Refundable non refundable deposit not returned after contract
I paid them a deposit which was reclassified as a credit management fee. Why would anyone pay $449 to obtain their service in the first place. They told me that I am getting my money back $5 a month! Wow! $60 whole dollars a month. I never agreed to it and they keep sending me these terms and conditions and stated that I agreed to it. The terms are:Under their terms and conditions which read "Credit Check / Advance Payments & Deposits. Service customers give us permission to obtain their credit information from consumer credit reporting agencies at any time. If we determine that you may be a credit risk due to: (1) unsatisfactory credit rating; (2) insufficient credit history; (3) fraudulent or abusive use of any AT&T services within the last five years; or (4) late payments for current or prior bills, we may refuse to provide the Services or we may require an advance payment, a non-refundable payment, and/or deposit. Interest will not be paid on advance payments or deposits unless required by law. We may require special payment terms such as additional advance payments or deposits if we determine that the initial payment was inadequate. We may establish limits and restrict Service or features as we deem appropriate. If your account balance goes beyond the limit we set for you, we may immediately interrupt or suspend Service until your balance is brought below the limit. Any charges you incur in excess of your limit become immediately due. Upon determination solely by AT&T of satisfactory payment history or as required by law, AT&T may begin refunding of deposits through bill credits, cash payments, or as otherwise determined solely by AT&T."
This clearly says that I gave them a deposit which is refundable and they re-classified it after the fact and now are calling it something else. Funny how when you pay someone a deposit and they tell you your not getting it back how illegal that it. I was told specifically that I would get my money back. The terms that I have gotten back are the ones that I agreed to but now I have the FCC involved. Next step would ge the state attorney general. ATT you will not get away with this. I paid you guys on time for a year and you robbed me of my money.
I say that all the people who have been victimized in the same way ban together and take them down and get our money back.

Where does it say 'refundable' beyond the bill credits part? And as you stated they were willing to credit you $5 a month.
You have to realize that ATT has a team of high priced lawyers writing this stuff up and it's pretty much air tight.

I pay my payments on time every month for the duration of my contract. That is more than satisfactory to anyone. I asked why they do not refund my deposit and as I said, they reclassified it after the fact so they could keep it. I did not sign or agree that my deposit to be turned into anything but a deposit that was going to be refunded.

I mentioned this in the other thread you posted in as well: Those terms are for high-speed internet service, not Uverse service. Uverse TV is the only service for which AT&T charges a non-refundable credit fee.

@vinny81 Do you have UVERSE HSI? Do you have Uverse TV? Did you pay the non-refundable fee?
