Returned AT&T U-Verse to UPS Store, but shows as returned several weeks later
Wife returned equipment and cancelled service at UPS Store, however we received notification from AT&T that equipment was finally returned to them about a month later. Due to this, AT&T has charged us service well beyond the date we returned equipment to UPS Store and moved from old address. How is this possible?

I hope you meant that you cancelled your service by calling AT&T customer service and THEN returned the equipment to UPS. You can't cancel your service at the UPS store.

Called AT&T to cancel and was advised to take equipment to UPS Store. Plain and simple and now they want more money.

The new policy is to bill you through the end of a billing cycle even if you cancel one day in. Once the billing cycle starts, you are billed for the entire cycle/month.
The question is: When did the billing cycle begin and END? This information is on a bill. Again, not the day the bill was due but the BILLING DATE. What date did you cancel? For example, your billing cycle began on Sept. 1 and ended on Sept. 30. You cancel on Sept. 3. You still have to pay for the entire month of Sept. (billing cycle) as they no longer pro-rate your last bill.

Your statement of policy seems to be correct with paying thru a billing cycle in which you cancel. Our last bill ran into August. They do show a pro rated charge on the last bill, less the days after they show receiving the equipment from UPS Store on Aug. 19th. As for the billing period of bill in question, its from Aug. 11 thru Sept. 10th. However we called them towards end of July and turned in the equipment in July. We didn't occupy the old address or have electricity in the month of Aug. Seems to be a case where our account was not notated as cancelled and UPS Store took their time to ship to AT&T or when received at AT&T they took time to check in equipment.
When cancelling with AT&T over the phone we were asked for bill forwarding address, which is how they followed up with sending us notification of receiving our equipment. Also worth noting AT&T is not available at new address.
