Reward card scam

Judging from the posts, I am not the only one taken in.  There was supposed to be a $200 reward card for originally signing up.  It never arrived.  A phone call informed me that it took a couple of months to process....piffle.  A second call resulted in an apology for no card and by way of recompense, high (?) speed internet was offered as a sop.  Again no card!.  Called again and received another apology, a promise to correct the situation and...would I like to try the U300 service?  This was January....waited on the 300 channels, they never arrived...the card never arrived...if fact, nothing arrived.

Called again yesterday, went through a supervisor for whom English was not a native tongue.  Finally received the 300 channels only to find out I had been paying for them since January.  But, bright spot, the upgrade came with another reward card....which was never received.

Finally was referred, for the first time to the reward center and was informed...SORRY, time has elapsed, we sent you a letter.

How many others have been scammed by this crap?  It will make a great episode for Judge Judy.

These write ups all sound like what happened to me.  I didn't get any gift cards in the mail.  I called and they said that they sent me a letter in the mail.  No cards just a letter.  It is illegal for gift cards to expire in a month, but they can do whatever they want with a letter.  I have paperless billing and they e-mail me all the time.  The only reason to send a letter and have a 2 week time limit is to get out of providing me what was promised.  That is why I searched "scam" and found this site.  I feel really cheated.  I'll write some letters.

Here is my experience with the scam.  Promised a $200 rewards card for signing up with Directv/AT&T.  Signed up on 7.12.16.  System, including dish, was installed on 8.11.16.  Requirements for reward included keeping service for a minimum of 30 days after installation (meaning, September 10, but with that being a weekend, actually Sept 12).  When October arrived, and I heard nothing about the card, I called.  After getting sent back and forth between AT&T and Directv, including finally getting logged in on the website (a process that took about three hours between the calls and the login), I was advised that a letter had supposedly been sent out on July 26, and that I had 45 days from that letter to request my gift card, but that because more than 45 days had passed, the gift card was forfeited.  I never received such a letter.  Nor did I receive an email notice concerning the gift card, despite receiving about two dozen emails in the month and a half from AT&T and Directv after signing up.  Even if I had received the letter, I was not eligible for the reward until 30 days after installation, a date after the expiration of the response time in the alleged letter.  In other words, it was not possible for me to qualify for the $200.00.  I do know that the Michigan Attorney General has a consumer protection division, and the PSC regulates (or is supposed to regulate) the cable companies, so I will follow through with them.

I had the same problem. I should have received $250. Just got the run-a-round.

I'm in the same boat too.  I am about to call the investigative news reporter or at least file a report with the BBB.

I simply never received my $200 reward card. No letter, no card, and now no response from ATT when written inquiry sent. I'll give them a few more days, I guess. Then when I have another hour to spare, will try calling them once again.

I'm a single parent on a tight budget... The promise of a $200 rewards card was the deciding factor in switching to them in the first place.

I believe I will be switching to another provider as soon as my contract is up, given how poorly this had gone.

To their credit, AT&T responded to my inquiry email through this site fairly promptly, following it up with a phone call. Sounds like they just resolved what was from a misclassification on their end. Apparently, if you change AT&T landline phone numbers on the AT&T plan like I did (due to it ringing off the hook because it must've been a recently-used number) within the 30 days, it may trigger an incorrect disqualification flag in the AT&T system. It sounds like they are resolving it now, thankfully. If not, will update this list again.

I have spent several frustrating sessions with chat representative's attempting to obtain the reward we were promised with new service. After a 20 minute session today, the rep offered to "have a manager call " . The call turned out to be an invitation to wade through a host of additional menu's and then to be placed on an endless hold. After another 20 minutes of listening to elevator music I gave up.

It would appear that AT&T offers these so-called rewards but makes them very difficult to retrieve. It's not clear why we have to retrieve at all. The reward is promised when we subscribe, but it appears that retrieving the reward is a significant time commitment.  Why are we forced to jump through hoops?

This is very dishonest.

The Reward Center site does not recognize Account number and zip code. Checked account number multiple times. Attempted login multiple times with multiple browsers. The site does not work for all.

Can't get any resolution by phone, chat, email, or website. It *is* a scam.

I remember the rewards card,They used to be more creative about not giving it to you. When I started with ATT they sent out my letter to get the card a week and a half after it the time had expired.

The rewards center is a bull-crap place and so are the rewards cards. They give scripted answers and no true solutions. I wish I had never switched away from my local cable provider. AT&T's customer service is the worst I have every experienced with any company. There is only one way to get help and, even when you physically go to an AT&T store, those poor workers have to resort to the same inefficient, incompetent overseas, non-native English speakers. All of their responses are also scripted and they could care less if their response does not answer your questions.

AT&T is TERRIBLE.

I am starting to think they are making false promises. I have been tracking this online and been following up to see why I haven't been getting it in the mail. ITS ALL LIES!!! They are sending me three separate cards and this is one card that I am letting you all know future people out there.
So here it is I have my u-verse installed 8/05/2016 the day I moved in. 08/15/2016 reward notification was emailed. On my tracker it showed I have met my requirement on 09/04/2016. Then I claimed it on 09/29/2016. Then I was approved 10/08/2016 then they mail it on 10/14/2016. Then October pass I followed up letting them know why I still haven't gotten my reward card then verified my address my number and my name and they offered if I wanted to reissued it and so same process I went online to tracking my reward card and then told me that I will be getting my card today 11/08/2016 but nothing again. They offered me to reissued my reward card again. So it's a SCAM!! Nothing!!! I am very disappointed on there false promises. Is that tracking fake or what..? Like so I get nothing from them but when it comes to collecting money from me they are on top of it.

Received one card after a couple hours of phone time over several days. Excuses and excuses Was told I would receive the second card. Was given a confirmation number. When nothing was received was told I didn't qualify for he second card. When asked why the supervisor said she didn't know why I didn't qualify. Nothing in the mailing I received said anything about qualifying. Was on the phone for over an hour tonight and was passed to 4 different people. Still just excuses and lies. I will be switching back to Verizon and Dish NETWORK on Thursday.
This is a scam and the AT&T staff are either profoundly incompetent or they are dishonest liars.
