Reward card scam

Judging from the posts, I am not the only one taken in.  There was supposed to be a $200 reward card for originally signing up.  It never arrived.  A phone call informed me that it took a couple of months to process....piffle.  A second call resulted in an apology for no card and by way of recompense, high (?) speed internet was offered as a sop.  Again no card!.  Called again and received another apology, a promise to correct the situation and...would I like to try the U300 service?  This was January....waited on the 300 channels, they never arrived...the card never arrived...if fact, nothing arrived.

Called again yesterday, went through a supervisor for whom English was not a native tongue.  Finally received the 300 channels only to find out I had been paying for them since January.  But, bright spot, the upgrade came with another reward card....which was never received.

Finally was referred, for the first time to the reward center and was informed...SORRY, time has elapsed, we sent you a letter.

How many others have been scammed by this crap?  It will make a great episode for Judge Judy.

This is still happening.  I was promised in May and no reward or way to claim.   It's a shame.

I, too have been scammed by the Gift Card scenario! The Rep came to my door, I signed up for Direct TV, he said I WOULD RECEIVE my gift card in 30-60 days. Not a letter with a number, not telling me to log in and claim.... I Would Receive it. The Contract says the same thing handwritten by him. I called today (signed up in Feb.) and asked about it. Guess what!? They supposedly sent me a letter with a number to use to claim it!! I am on auto pay for ATT... I don't open Junk Mail from them... or anyone else for that matter. They said it's too late and I won't get one. I told them I will post in as many places as possible this is a sign-up scam!!!

I called FCC. Last week and told them my story. Today AT&T called and apologized and give me a 200.00 credit and a offer to cancel with no fees. If you don't get a response from them try that way, good luck

October 6, 2017

On approximately April 21, 2017, I called your customer service agent Debbie G and requested installation of service on May 2, 2017. Because the wiring issues my service was not completed until May 5, 2017.  I was promised a reward card in the amount of $300.00 for the packaged purchased with AT & T Uverse services.

I placed a call on May 31st to inquire about the rewards card.  The agent stated that I had to wait another 30 days to request the card.  I was also provided the 3 month premium channel package that was never provided on May 5, 2017.  The representative at this time was Diane  who offered cell phone services as well at a better rate that I am currently paying with Verizon.

I called back to cancel the premium packages on Sept 5, 2017 and inquired about the rewards card again. The representative stated I had to contact the rewards department.  I contacted them online today and was advised that the offer was no longer available by Nancy (through the chat option).  Nancy stated the offer expires after 120 days of service and recommended I contact a 1-800-288-2020 to complain.  I contacted the number and remained on hold for over 20 minutes prior to disconnecting the call.

I also found out today that I am on some sort of 1 year and 2 year contract with the special offer rec’d that I was told initially was unlimited. I am extremely furious with this company as of today.

After months of being patient and listening to the multiple explanations I feel the need to share the sales tactics used to gain customers with AT&T Uverse. I will be issuing a complaint to the BBB.

I feel humiliated and incredibly angered by this service. Someone with such poor tactics and skills to make a sale should not be in business. I would like this issue to be addressed immediately. I would also like a written apology and the opportunity to speak to someone else about the tactic used to gain a new customer.

Thank you for your consideration.

Me too! I switched to AT&T from sprint and they promised a Visa card for both phones. We kept sending in our last bill with Sprint and they never took it. My husband has been texting our AT&T man and he keeps saying they still didn’t accept the last bill cause it’s missing information....

which is a load of crap because it’s literally our last bill. We had already bought new phones from sprint THAT I HATED, so we had to of course pay those stupid things off PLUS pay for the new iPhones we now have at AT&T. I put it on my credit card thinking I would just pay it back off with the Visa cards they send us (we live pay check to paycheck) but the Visa NEVER CAME!  I had my credit card paid down, but after cancelling sprint, I now racked up more debt. I was so sad and att says it’s not their fault... so basically I got nothing from this promotion but debt. We are now behind because every month we have to put our att bill on a credit card too. All because the freaking Visa card is A SCAM!!!!

Don’t do it!

I am another victim of the same scam.  I was told I would receive a $ 150.00 AT&T VISA Reward Card for signing up with Direct TV and would get the card 8 weeks after the Direct TV service was installed. I had the service installed on 4/20/17 and never got the card. After numerous calls to AT&T and Direct TV (and multiple commitments to send me the Reward Card) they never sent it. Direct TV finally offered to give me a $10 credit on my bill instead of the $150 Reward Card. I told them what they can do with their $10.00 offer and filed a complaint with the FTC on 10/15/17 and with the FCC today. I am not optimistic that neither of the above federal agencies will resolve this problem or prevent others from being victimized by AT&T and Direct TVs false advertisements/scam.  I plan on giving the FCC a little time to respond to my claim.  If my complaint is not resolved to my satisfaction I intend to contact the Congressional Representatives who have oversight over the FTC and FCC to request their intervention to resolve my problem, and most importantly to stop AT&T and Direct TV from further engaging in the deceptive and fraudulent marketing practices evidenced by their scam.

I was promised $400 card in August, 2017 -- not recieved and they have no notes about it.  I told them to pull their phone call recording and they said they can't do that.

While they may have a rewards center prompt online, it does not work unless you have received a letter in the mail or a claim number.  13 months later and over 20 phone calls later, still no letter, no visa gift cards for $300 owed and no explanation.  Rewards center advises time frame expired.  Claims never sent letter bc they did not get a file from ATT to do so.  ATT customer service claims that they issued card when I signed up for service, but after careful review, they note it never went out.  So no gift cards, no claim number or letter received.  Started calling 90 days after we have service which was what they advised was the procedure, as it needed to be active for 3 months.  They are liars.  They give the run around, and this problem is not solved.  They have until this Friday to contact me before I Report them not only to the FTC but to the BBB.  This is one of several issues I have with them.  This was my final straw.  I hope they review their records carefully and rectify the problem before they get fined again by the FTC.

I wouldn't waste your time contacting the AT&T Center. Contact the FCC
online and follow their complaint procedure. About a week after doing so I
was contacted by AT&T/Direct TV who agreed to take $150.00 off my bill to
make up for the $150.00 reward card they never sent me. I agreed to the
above solution and they followed through in crediting my account the above
amount.
