SAME STORY DIFFERENT PERSON!! RUINING MY CREDIT FOR NO REASON!
I canceled my Uverse account when I moved in 2012. We later got a bill for $161. When we called in we were told to disregard the amount, it was not due. Then when I try to buy a house this year, there's a $161 collection for Uverse from AFNI collection agency. My broker says to ignore it because it's old. I elected to just pay the account hoping for a quick solution to try and buy my house. I thought I could simply call ATT collections and resolve this getting the collection removed. So far this has not been the case I called ATT several times only to get a reps who could care less saying there was nothing that could be done. I thought I was alone in the battle until I googled and searched this problem. I found this forum where the exact same thing has happened to a lot of ATT customers. Who do I need to escalate this to to get this off of my report and return my score to where it was so I can buy a house? I would hate to have to spend money on a lawyer or contact BBB if there is someone at ATT that can help. Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. Yes I did. They responded with "they can not do anything about removing the entry, only show that it was paid". " I would need to contact ATT internal collections at 800-496-8941 and have them call to remove it.
I called ATT and explained myself and the rep was very disinterested in my problem stating that no one at ATT could remove this, it was up to the collection agency...so the round and round continues. Any other suggestions?
