ATT Bill lists charge for Direct TV Premier Protection Plan, What does it Protect

My ATT Bill including Direct TV charges me $20.99 each month for Direct TV Premier Protection Plan, but they won't tell me what it does, like what does it protect? Do I really need it? $280 a year for What? Anybody else have this?
