U-Verse destruction in my yard

I had to go by my home yesterday to pick up a document I needed for a meeting.  Imagine my horror when I saw a backhoe type piece of equipment sitting on my sprinkler heads in MY yard and a hole dug about 5x5 right where my irrigation system goes.  I asked some guy on the phone what was going on and why I hadn't been contacted in advance.  His answer was cavalier and said, "I knocked on your door.  No one answered."  Well, I work for a living like most people I know.  I asked him about my irrigation system and he said, "we'll pay for it if it is broken."  And walked away.  I am aghast.  I have no telephone number to call and no way to figure out how to proceed.  I hope someone can send me a contact number.  I live on John's Island in South Carolina.
