U-VERSE in my area? Contact?

I currently can only get DSL in my area (I'm thankful for that), but am wanting to get U-Verse.  I understand that AT&T has to run new fiber for this to happen.  I have called AT&T over the past 5 years, asking if it's availably in my area yet.  They tell me the same thing every other time I call...."It's coming to your area soon".  The next person I get will say they have no way of knowing when it will be available.  We don't have a local customer service building to just go ask.  We have a "repair center", but they don't like it when people just show up, asking questions.  (I've tried this before).

Somebody, somewhere has to know the plans for U-Verse in South Mississippi.   My town, Purvis, MS, does not have U-Verse, but a town 8 miles a way does (a much smaller town btw).  I was wondering if a petition would help.  If so, who would I even submit that information to?  I"m sure there is a lot of work involved to supply new equipment to any area.  It's just frustrating when I can't talk to a local AT&T person face to face.

If I could get Comcast Cable, I would.  But, it's not available either.

Thanks

@alderaanman Don't hold your breath for Uverse to appear, expansion is pretty much done here in 2015.  Also, getting Uverse doesn't mean TV, many times just Internet that was no higher (or marginally higher) than the 'old' ADSL Internet you have.

Nobody outside ATT Uverse knows what (if) any plans are in for Mississippi and ATT is not telling anyone either. 😉

Thanks for the response.  Yeah, I'm not wanting TV, just faster speeds.  I currently have 6Mbps (usually around 5.4Mbps).  I've read where speeds aren't necessarily faster when having U-Verse.  However, a couple of people I know state theirs is around 13Mbps.  I really shouldn't complain.  I used to have 1.5Mbps, so 6Mbps is much better. 🙂

Anyway, I was just hoping maybe I could voice my interests (along with others) through some kind of petition.  But, it sounds like this will probably do no good.

Maybe I should petition Comcast, to bring Comcast to my area.  Comcast stops about 3 miles from my house.  Maybe C-Spire's fiber to home will make it's way around soon.

Thanks again for your response

You're welcome.  Just remember it is still distance limited going over the same copper lines, nothing new.  On ADSL2+ Uverse Internet, speeds go from .75Mbs to 18Mbs, the higher speeds closer to the VRAD, IRAD or CC. 😉

It has been over a year since I first posted here.   Just updating that I'm no closer to getting any answers than I was a year ago.  😞

Maybe I will live to see the day U-Verse makes it to my area.

May I ask what service you use to get DSL? I am in Purvis as well and I have had no luck finding high speed internet AT ALL. The only option for me is Satellite internet and there's no way I'm going to pay for that.
