I just received notice of a price increase of $40/month on my U300 service. After 1.5 hours of 'chatting' and then having to 'call the 800' number I got the pricing back down a bit. Guess it is time to check out promotions with Verizon, or some other service, as this whole thing has gotten cost prohibitive. My monthly would have been $267 had I not made some attempt to get the cost down!! In the last year or so, ATT has increased my bill by $60-80/ month. Crazy increases.
The promotions may have expired, but it doesn't make the price increase any easier to swallow.
I have checked out Xfinity, which serves my area, and I can get the equivalent service for about $175/month. Xfinity seems to use Smart TV's, and I could use my FireTV on the 'dumb' ones, which would allow me to access Xfinity over the internet, for streaming their services.
I have had U-verse for years, but it may be time for a change, since the difference in pricing is significant!!
@kjung sounds like a good idea to checkout your options with xfinity. I was also curious when I looked at their offerings if you could use the over the top internet provided devices for regular tv and dvr use and avoid the cable box rental fees for every tv or if that didn't work for some reason.
The only suggestion I have is if you can afford it, DON'T cancel u-verse tv until after you have comcast xfinity setup and running and you determine you like the new system. Since u-verse tv is no longer offered to new customers it can be next to impossible to get it back even as an existing customer. if you wanted to for some reason.

If your receiving a retiree discount and it increases 8 dollars then 8 dollars will be the increase they aren’t going to discount the 8 dollars.
