What is the status of U-Verse in my area?

I really hate your company. Last year I was told we should get U-Verse in my area in Dec 2014 / Jan 2015. It is now February. Nothing.

I have had Internet problems since the storm in June 2013. I have had techs come out, that have totally ruined the wiring in our house. We can now only use the jack in the bedroom for phone service and internet. The other jacks are now dead, according to the last person to "fix the problem", which didn't fix the problem -- surprise. I was told, "Upgrade to faster service", but higher tech people said, "You are limited to 1.5 Mbps only." So we couldn't even upgrade if we wanted to upgrade. We don't even get 1.5 Mbps. It is all over the spectrum, not consistent.

Now, I have to laugh, I received an email saying, "As of March 2015, we are raising the price $3" Why? Why don't you charge me, "Up to $45" like you say your speeds are. I am ready to move to Comcast Internet. It is slightly cheaper price AND much faster. "Up to 25 Mbps"

Nothing's going to change in the near future and you gotta do what you gotta do.  If it was me, I'd be on the hated Comcrap internet long time ago if only having 1.5M internet in 2015. 😉

Thank you for your reply.

Actually, the 1.5 Mbps has always been good for our needs when it worked properly. I really don't need 60 Mbps or something like that, I just need it to work consistenly at the 1.5 (1.2 even) speed.

Problem is you don't even get that, I know 1.5M is adequate as I had it for years on SBCglobal Internet, then for a couple years on Uverse TV/Internet.  They offered $$ back to upgrade and glad I got 12M Internet, things load much, much faster than 1.5M. Smiley Very Happy

And that has been the problem and my frustration. I WAS doing ok with it until a lightning strike hit my area one day, then everything went haywire. Then told me, "Nothing going to be fixed, updating area to U-Verse...." And people would just blow smoke up my ... 🙂

I don't want to switch. My mom worked for AT&T / Bell System for over 40 years. We want to stay loyal to the people that put food on our table and a roof over our head. But, it is getting harder to do that. Even if I wanted to upgrade to 3 or 6 Mbps to stay with AT&T, I can't, until U-Verse is in the area. I was told 1.5 Mpbs was the highest speed I can get. Sigh.

I miss my old apartment. The switch was very close. I had the 3.0 Mbps and I would get routinely 3.4 or higher when downloading, it was awesome.

Again, thank you for your help.
