Why is AT&T digging up my yard???

I am an AT&T customer, but I came home today to find that my yard has been dug up and there is a tower that has been put in my yard without my consent. I have not called to have any services added or upgraded, I don't understand how or why they would dig up my yard with out giving me any type of advanced notification. This is my home, and if anything is to be done on my land I should be aware. My question is what rights do I have as a home owner to keep things like this from happening again? and what compensation will AT&T give to me as an unsatisfied customers with there practices??
