Return? The Amazon tablets have never been supported.

i've read a lot of commenters on the Fire tablets sites (like on amazon) who say that they used to be able to watch Directv on their older Kindle Fire tablets, but apparently (according to the comments) that changed at some point, maybe 1-2 years ago.  Since then, the newer tablets (like my amazon fire hd 10) don't support the DTV Stream or DTV apps.  The DTV Stream app is available in the amazon app store and is labelled that it's for amazon fire tablets, but if you read the fine print below, it states that the app works for amazon fire tv....

What is available in the amazon app store is regular Directv for people with satellite subscriptions. Not Directv Stream. And the stream app says Fire TV which is Firesticks, firetv

yes that's correct. DTV Stream probably never worked on amazon fire tablets, but apparently regular Directv used to work on them.  However, regular DTV no longer works on the amazon fire tablets.  I'd be happy if i could use either one, but, as Robert Browning said (paraphrasing), Except a man's reach exceed his grasp, else what's a heav'n for.....

i'll add that several suggest side-loading google play store on the amazon fire tablet, then downloading DTV that way, but i think the process is a little too complicated for me...

I am the one who suggested that and its not complicated. In order for people to use the regular Directv app they need a Directv satellite account/subscription.

However, regular DTV no longer works on the amazon fire tablets.

The DIRECTV for Fire Tablets app is still available on the Amazon Store (as shown by @Ludwick577 above).  It will not work if what you have is a DIRECTV stream account.  Are you saying it doesn't work if you have a DIRECTV satellite account?

if you look closely at the directv for fire tablets app, it is NOT for fire tablets, regardless of the heading. If you read below, it says its for fire TV.  It fooled me too.........

i might try the side-load, though it looked a little dicey for me to do.

if you look closely at the directv for fire tablets app, it is NOT for fire tablets, regardless of the heading. If you read below, it says its for fire TV.

Let me quote...

The ultimate video experience is just a tap away with the new DIRECTV App for Kindle Fire. Watch top TV channels live on your Kindle Fire...

It never, not once anywhere on the page, says "Fire TV."  [I did a page search for "Fire TV" and it appears only in the menus at the top of the page, not in the app content.]

It may not be working (per the comments on the app page), but it is clearly intended for the tablets, and not the Fire TV platform.  The word "Kindle" is never associated with the Fire TV devices.

true, it doesnt say fire tv, but apparently what that kindle fire refers to is kindle's streaming service.  App no longer supports satellite subscribers, like me. Read the recent customer reviews.  The only solution i've seen is side-loading, which i may try.  I really bought the HD 10 so that, via my directv on my tv set, i could watch NFL outside on our deck on something bigger than my phone screen.

I sideloaded google playstore onto my Fire HD and it was simple. Then I downloaded Directv stream and it works great.
