Anyone else having difficulty using Stream and being told to buy their "cable boxes" issues due to firestick?
We have had this service for over a year, using the FireSticks, no issues. Within the past 3 weeks, we have buffering non-stop, whenever we change from Netflix back to the Stream app, wake the Service up from Sleep, or just because really, no rhyme or reason. We have 3 tv's all newer Samsung smart tvs, all with a Firesticks (per the Support team 11 months ago,) that had been functioning fine until about 3 weeks ago. 4 support calls, the last yesterday, which was an utter joke, they basically told me I had to buy 3 "stream boxes" in order for the service to function properly, as it doesn't work with firesticks. We have been given work arounds from other Support cases and can get it up an running for a time by, clearing the cache each time we log in, force restarting through the app, but honestly the hassle is just too much. I like the service but with Hulu Live and YouTube TV out there for less money, the hassle and lack of Tech Support (Billing and Technical team in one) doesn't seem worth it. Just wanted to check here to see if anyone had an answer before I moved forward with cancelling. Oh an before I forget, we have At&T high speed fiber. Absolutely no internet issues at all. Thanks!

I use Roku Ultras and the DTV service works great. Firesticks are "budget" devices that are not really that great to begin with. A Roku Ultra compared to a Firestick is night and day difference in terms of speed and picture quality.

Thank you for the info. I just don't understand how we had no problems with the Firesticks for 11 months and now of a sudden its an issue. Appreciate the response!

Please see issues listed in the post "Within the past 3 weeks, we have buffering non-stop, whenever we change from Netflix back to the Stream app, wake the Service up from Sleep, or just because really, no rhyme or reason" Buffering, system not working unless the cache cleared each time or multiple times during a session

I have 3Fire Sticks having no issues. I travel extensively in a RV using the devices in the RV and motel rooms. Rarely have any buffering over cellular or free Wifi. Even in motel rooms with speeds less then 10 Mbps rarely have any hesitation. 2 are current 4K models and 3rd is a second gen stick. If you are having buffering then some congestion on the data path is getting impacted.

Thank you for that. We didn't believe its the Firesticks either, that is the latest we have been told and that we need to purchase this "steam box." All of our internet speeds are great. We do have a mesh network in the house. Any suggestions you could provide on the data path congestion? I'm not very techy and don't really understand but would love to see if I can clear up the issue before we switch services.

Have you reset your router and modem lately? What is your video resolution set to? 4k or 1080i? Are all systems running at the same time when the issues occur?

We have reset the modem and router. That is one of the first things Support requires. They did a speed test, no, issues whatsoever. At most we would have 2 of the 3 TV's on at the same time, but the issue usually occurs when we turn the one primary TV on after work. I work from home, no issues during the day or once the TV is reset. It's really when we go from different apps or the TV wakes up or we first turn it on. Set to 1080i. The interesting thing is we can stream directtv on our ipad fine, while this issue is going on.

Try changing the streaming quality on your firesticks from "best" to "better" and see if that helps. Personally--I don't see a video quality difference between the 2 settings. It is under settings--preferences--streaming quality on your firestick.
