App is constantly buffering
The app seems to be constantly buffering during programs. I'm trying to watch the Dolphins game on CBS, and the app is buffering. When it returns, the program is in Spanish. This happened last night while watching the Heat on a different channel. It buffers during other programs. It is very annoying. We are constantly going to the Guide Menu and going back to the channel.

Repeated buffering may result from a technical problem with the content provider or your internet service provider (ISP), but it can also occur when too many devices are using an internet connection at the same time. However, in most cases, it's a function of your internet speed.

I had the same problem and still do. I live in Jacksonville, FL. I was watching the San Francisco 49ers versus the Jacksonville Jaguars on FOX on my newer Samsung TV in my living room. This TV is a straight stream there’s no AT&T TV devices boxes or whatever hooked up to it . I’ve never had any problems whatsoever until today. I also had my older Samsung TV (which has a AT&T box) hooked up to it that was on in the bedroom. I had the game on in there while I was showering. When I got done showering, I turned off my older Samsung television in the bedroom and then I came back out in to the living room. When I came back out to the living room, the newer Samsung TV (which is a straight stream, no devices/tv boxes hooked up) was buffering A LOT and every time it buffered, the screen went black and then when the game came back on/returned, the game was being simulcast in Spanish. I troubleshot my Samsung and everything was just as it was when I purchased it and set it up over a year ago. Today, nothing has been banged, touched, moved, accidentally hit or anything. For some reason all of a sudden direct stream TV keeps buffering buffering buffering buffering over and over constantly and then during the football games the announcers are speaking Spanish in an hour not the American announcer such as Chris Collinsworth and then the team that was calling the other game earlier today.
I tried calling the 1-800 number but apparently it’s too late and it’s a Sunday. It doesn’t sound like there’s a problem with my TV or anybody else’s TV per say. It sounds like it’s a problem with direct stream TV or something beyond our control. I spoke to a representative tonight who deals only with the Internet (his name was Ebineezer…yes, I swear that’s what his name is) and he says my Internet was fine no issues, not to mention I unplugged, waited 30 minutes and did that entire debacle as well and still have the same issue.
When I saw that this person had the same problem I was a ecstatically happy because deep down I knew it wasn’t me or anything I was doing wrong and I knew that it wasn’t my TV. It had to do something with the streaming service and then things being kicked over into Spanish for some reason.
Dear Direct Stream,
Please direct stream TV do some troubleshooting figure out why this happened to not just the initial poster of this post but to me as well. Like I said, I live in Jacksonville Florida and I did call the 1-800-531-5000 number and spoke to Ebeneezer (that’s his real name) at approximately 9:00 PM Eastern standard time any help suggestions or improvement in service would be greatly appreciated by us all.

Same issue, only occurs with DirectStream TV. We have TV connected directly to the AT&T modem via Ethernet, so no issue due to router. Not a smart TV problem as only occurs with one app.

Having the same issue with buffering, lagging and freezing, on my Wifi Samsung TV, when using AT&T (now Direct TV). Should have more than enough bandwidth for this and all fix actions accomplished - no resolution (reset TV, reset router, router is upstairs, etc...) except for an Ethernet connection - that won't work, since TV is downstairs and would be an issue wiring this. Netflix, Hulu and Disney+ streaming doesn't lag/freeze/buffer, so.... Thinking about getting a WiFi expander but, would really like AT&T to take care of this and provide a better fix action, before I do....any forward progress on this, by you all?

Hey @TexasTater we are aware of the importance of getting the best quality for your service. In those cases for buffering we recommend restarting your internet network or do a factory reset to the Directv device. Just to confirm what happens when you try to access third party subscriptions such as netflix/hulu? Join us in a DM with more details.

If you are using the Samsung tv app there is an update available. Go into the "apps" area on your tv by hitting the home button and scrolling to the left ..then click the dtv stream icon it will update. Hulu and netflix do not comparre in size/memory eating vs Dtv stream app. U can't compare apples to oranges. Also, when I tried my Samsung tv app after the update I also had an ethernet cable plugged in.

Tampa FL using Frontier 500mbps. Constant buffering on Samsung TV 2018 model. TV and app up to date. Bout to drop this garbage since I am paying $100 a month and it is getting very annoying. Started a few weeks ago. Get a real streaming device? Every other thing on the TV works perfect except for DirectTV stream app, so no. Fix your stuff

Totally annoyed with direct tv. I pay way too much for constant buffering. Ballysports please choose another streaming service! This is ridiculous! I pay ATT for the highest level of internet so find a new excuse or fix the (Edited per community guidelines) problem.

There seems to be a reoccurring issue here with the same old recommendations to fix the problem which don't even come close to resolving the issue. It would be great to see DirecTV stream make some diligent efforts to address the app issue. I like how one of the members on here referenced a billion-dollar company can't even get an app to work on a simple TV. 😩 Other ther companies like Roku which I've had have no issues with the ability to have a quality app to stream Dtv.
My initial response when I asked for support was to check my bandwidth and it's probably an internet issue but then they had no response when I said everything else works just fine like Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, etc etc etc

Once again, you can not compare live multi-stream services DirecTV Stream to single stream services like Netflix or Amazon. The data delivery is totally different. I just wish subscribers would quit referencing these single stream services in their complaints. We all know that they have problems with the Samsung app. Yes I wish they would fix it but the app has never been up to par in performance. Will they - maybe but it want be soon if ever. If you really want to use the services get an external device.
