App on Apple TV

I am having difficulty using the Directv Streaming app on my Apple TV with the Apple TV remote.  For one thing, it seems like there is a 1-second delay which is frustrating a causes me to choose the wrong link.  I also find the Stream interface to be quite clunky.  I'm never sure what is going to happen when I press the back arrow on the remote or the tv button.  I can't put the App on my new Sony tv, so I can't use my universal remote that I used with Uverse.  Is anyone else experiencing this as well?

The DirecTV Stream user experience is somewhat limited by the Apple TV remote. You'll have a much better experience with a DirecTV Stream box and its dedicated remote.

Thanks, is there more than one version?  I see several on ebay, but wasn't sure they all would be compatible with the Streaming App on my Apple TV. Also, can you use two remotes with one box?

Be careful buying a C71K on eBay. Many of those boxes were never deactivated properly, so you might not be able to activate on your account. And, yes, you can use two remotes with one box.

So you are saying that the box has Directv on it, like a traditional cable box, so I would no longer use it as an app on my Apple TV?  Does it support 4k viewing? Do shows still record to the cloud?  I'm paying extra for unlimited storage.  I'm also assuming that you're saying I'd be better buying the box for $120 from At&T with an extra remote.

Right. It's a streaming box, kind of like your Apple TV. You wouldn't need the Apple TV DirecTV Stream App. At this time there are no 4K programs on DirecTV Stream. Yes, shows are stored in the cloud. You can choose to pay $120 for the C71K from DirecTV (no longer AT&T) up front, or you can pay $5 each month for 24 months.

Thanks so much, do you know if it is a Universal remote?  Can I program it to work with my Apple TV?  I watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other Apps on the Apple TV.

No, it's not really a Universal Remote. It should be able to control your TV on/off and volume. But it won't control your Apple TV. Note that the DirecTV Stream box also includes the ability to add Apps like Netflix, YouTube, etc.

Cool, thanks so much for all of your help, really appreciate it.  I don't see the option to purchase an extra remote on the Directv website.  Do you know where I can buy that?

Couple more questions, one of the reasons I got the new Apple TV was for 4k streaming where available, like Amazon Prime movies.  I'm assuming I should continue to watch those apps on the Apple tv vs. the Direct Streaming box because it won't offer 4k, correct

Also, does the box connect to a tv or a receiver?

Right. To stream 4K content you'll still use your Apple TV box.

The C71K can connect directly to your HDTV, or to an AV Receiver. It has HDMI and optical audio outputs.
