Bad Buffering Issues
I have a Samsung QN85Q900T 8k TV with 700 mbs wifi speed tested from phone standing in front of the TV. The TV itself tested from 25-50, yet the live tv stream from DirecTV was as bad as having the satellite during a hurricane. It constantly froze up, displayed in quality that would be unacceptable even for old standard definition TVs. More time was spent down than up. Cycling through the menus was also extremely clunky.
Will using a Gemini box for 4k make things any better, or will it be equally as bad as streaming directly through the TV?

Are you using Samsung's DirecTV Stream App or a separate streaming device? The Samsung app is not very good.

Always use an external device. The devices are more powerful and support more apps. They also get more frequent updates. At some point, the TV makers just quit supporting in lieu of selling newer TV's (their business).

I'm streaming from DirecTV's app for Samsung TVs - no external device.
