Cloud DVR
If you choose to record a LIVE show (CMA's for example) and the show is scheduled from 8pm- 11pm .. with the potential to go over a few minutes, the Recording SHOULD finish the show being recorded. Instead, the recording STOPS with less than a minute left. So the last award being given, what you have watched the WHOLE night for isn't recorded.
I've had DirectTV for years (16+) .. and the system has ALWAYS recorded or given the option to add an extension for a live show. The streaming service should be built in. Default. Why is it not?!

At this point there's no option to extend a recording. For live broadcasts, it's best to also record whatever show is airing after the live show.

Thanks @litzdog911 .. I assumed this to be the solution but figured I would vent a little and see if the community knew of something I didn't. With DirecTV Stream it would seem this would be a built in feature. Thanks again

Allegedly, for some sporting events, the live event will be automatically extended. I don't know what determines which sporting events get the bonus treatment (I imagine it has to do with channel). It is clearly not all, and maybe not even a significant number, but award shows have never been mentioned (but really need it).
My gripe, for which there is no solution, is when ESPN decides to move the start of a game to another ESPN channel while an earlier game finishes up (I've had a couple of games that were left on the "new" channel, so my recording was utterly useless).

@JefferMC Luckily I haven't ran into that issue yet as I've not needed to record a Sporting event but that would send me through the roof for sure.
I don't understand how this isn't a larger issue given the amount of DVR usage in todays market. Hopefully they can find a solution for it.
Is there a way to put in a feature request to make them aware of this need? Do they read/review the forums to see what customers needs are?

The answer to our issues, for the most part, is on-demand. For example, ESPN makes most of their games available as on-demand offerings, so there is no need to record it at all, just go select the recording that they provide.
However, the FF/REW experience on their App is not up to the feature as provided by my DVR, so I prefer the DVR. Joining in progress is also not really possible. But, I think that's the trend. Having only one copy of the program stored away that can be accessed at need by anyone authorized solves a lot of problems for the provider.

I just switched to DirecTV Stream and noticed that, there's not an option to extend a recording by any amount of time...I had U-Verse for awhile up until a couple of years ago & that system had the option for you to extend the recording by like 3, 5, 15 or 30 minutes...most recently I had Xfinity, which I had for specific reasons, but was so unhappy with their reliability & consistency & when the opportunity to change services arose recently, I did just that...anyway, the Xfinity OS/UI had alot of cool, good, useful features, like the automatic extending of recordings like football games, but also alot of bugs like sometimes it would keep recording for several hours even after the game finished, which is kinda strange. Seriously, not that long ago I recorded a college football game which lasted a little over 4 hours and their dvr service kept recording until about 8 hours total...like I said, bugs.
Why is it so hard to get certain features, that are pretty logical/sensible, programmed into the OS/UI. Another thing I've noticed, when I'm looking at the channel guide, there's no visual identifier that indicates that a show is scheduled to record, so I have to go into the dvr menu and see if a certain program/show is scheduled, that makes absolutely no sense to me at all. There are a few other little sensible/logical things that are not available/incorporated into the system.
Does anybody know if there's a page to make suggestions for features that might possibly be considered for implementation ?
Thanks
Chris

I have the same problem but with just regular shows. Wheel of Fortune always starts 2 minutes earlier that the time in the Guide. Frankie Drake mysteries on Ovation starts earlier and end later than the Guide times. But the Cloud DVR seems dead set to use the Guide times to start and end the recordings. This might be a deal breaker and I will have to stay with Comcast/Xfinity.
