DirecTV App Closes or Times-Out?
Okay, I don't even know what to call these things yet. Not used to this streaming terminology. Only been here 2 weeks and every day, I fall asleep to my TV. When I wake up, DirecTV app is off and I'm watching some other app on my TV. Every single day/night.
I've never had so many problems with internet & TV programming in my long life. Don't think I like it much. Too much reading, too much searching and dinking with things. Why does the app shut off by itself? I've looked within the menus of my Samsung TV, but have come across nothing to explain this phenomenon. It's annoying, because I expect to still be looking at whatever station I was viewing when I fell asleep.

We have a lot in common, @robertrentzer. I have 5 computers and refuse to move my primary off Windows 7, no matter how many tech reps tell me I HAVE TO! I have choice words for them telling me what I have to do when they aren't paying for anything related to my devices.
I bought a Dell XPS in February and Windows 11 stinks. That's why I won't move my other machine off 7. Also another laptop with Windows 10. Guess where that one is? In the closet (hahaha).
My Alienware R4 doesn't have an Ethernet card; just a port for a motherboard connection. Wish it did, because I have the internet Fiber 1000 and can't get it to perform right with this machine. Another topic for another day.
I'm definitely going to ask about the streaming box, because that question is just dumb. It's even dumber they don't give us a way to turn it off without buying a whole box to do it. DUH, software app developers!

KngRay:
Just a note to follow up on my telling you I was getting a new HDMI splitter with an amplifier to solve my problem of getting two TVs in the same room to sync up.
It worked like a charm and the set that is 30 feet away from the Direct TV box now carries a picture as clear and sharp as the one that is only 4 feet away from the Direct TV box. And audio from both sets no longer occasionally mismatch to give me an echo.
Hope you can get your Direct TV to no longer shut off after 4 hours, without needing to buy a Direct TV box to watch Direct TV and be able to turn power saver off.

Yeah, I spoke with some more people at DirecTV and I do have to get 1 box for that bedroom TV to control the app from going away. I was concerned that I'd have to get a box for all my TV's, but that's not the case.; just that 1.
Glad you solved your problem over there. Happy Holidays, sir.

I am having the same problem. Direct tv app turning off the whole system by itself.
Not a Samsung tv, using direct tv app thru a fire stick and it goes off 3 times in an hour show., sometimes more, it just turnes the whole system off, you turn the tv back on, click on the direct tv button on the remote and it picks up right where you left off like nothing every happened. 3 days ago it didn’t go off at all and now it does. This only happens with direct tv app, So frustrating.
