Directv Steam "Too Many Streams" with Verizon 5g Home Internet and eero mesh network

A few weeks ago I changed by internet provider from AT&T to Verizon 5g Home Internet.  At the same time I also set up an eero mesh network to maximize speeds which has worked great.  Here's the problem... Since making the change I can only stream two TVs at the same time.  When I try to watch Directv Stream on a 3rd TV a blue screen shows "Too Many Streams" (yada yada).  How do I fix this?

Apparently, the service thinks you are now out of your home network due to the 5G network switching IP addresses. This is common with these mobile home networks. Guess what? Nothing you can do about it since they do not offer a static IP address.

@matcarl

4 times isn’t enough since the IP origin is constantly changing. A legitimate soliton would be using a static IP VPN service and connecting the DIRECTV STREAM box to this.

That's not a solution.

There's a way to do it. DirecTV says you can change your ISP provider four times in a 12 month period. What devices are you watching on? If it's the DirecTV stream device, it can be changed in the settings. If it's not their device, you may have to call in to get them to fix it unless someone else here knows how to do it depending on what you tell us you are using to stream on.

That won't help if the ISP is changing the IP address. The only solution is to get a fied IP address and, sadly, that's not always possible or affordable.

Device IP address and billing zip code within the DMA territory. This only impacts local channels and regional sports.

Many people's (dynamic) IP addresses don't change much.  Through power failures and other events, mine has stayed the same for at least 2 1/2 years (likely longer, but that was the first time I needed to track it).  That said, it is sometimes a problem even for subscribers with "cooperative" ISPs, and is a massive problem for subscribers with wireless home internet or some other ISP technologies.  And no, requiring static addresses isn't a solution.  IPv6 might be a solution.  But in the meantime, they need to come up with something.  My suggestion would be to get rid of the "unlimited streams" and go back to something reasonable (maybe 5) bundled,  Then allow subscribers who really need more to pay an additional fee to get more (with the fee increasing enough as the count grows to discourage account sharing).  Then they could probably remove the "home network" check.

UPDATE:

The fix is as follows:

1. Go into the Directv Steam App

2. Choose Settings and Preferences

3. Select Location Settings and then Set New Home Location

4. Choose your new location (which automatically picked up on the current IP Address for the Verizon 5G router)

This change then spread throughout the mesh network to all my TV's and Firestick's connected to the network.

Now it's a waiting game to see when (or if) the Verizon 5G IP Address changes and what impact that will have... Stay tuned!

...and when it changes again, you will be out of your home network. After 4 changes, then you will be locked into the last home setting.

The only solution is a static IP address.

No - I did not say that. Most subscribers never see the issue, even if their IP address changes. Most probably don't use more than 2 devices at a time. Home location has always been based on billing zip code and device IP location.

UPDATE:

It's been a month since my last post (see above).  The Verizon 5G IP Address has changed and the "Too Many Streams" error code is back.

If you're still there.... Is AT&T doing anything about this service glitch?

AT&T has nothing to do with the service. AT&T and DirecTV are 2 separate companies now (been separated almost a year now). No need to even reference AT&T anymore. Don't expect a change to take place.
