Directv Stream App can't install on Samsung TV

First I had Directv Stream App on my Samsung TV and the service was spotty at best. Screen would go black, then picture would resize and not load. All of a sudden on Wednesday 7/6/22 I'm signed out of the app...I go to sign on and it tells me it's sorry, can't access service, I will be logged out and need to sign back in. I follow the "troubleshooting" steps online. Turn TV off and on, refresh APP, Reinstall APP, delete App then reinstall...I still get the same error message. I call tech support on Saturday 7/9. He tells me there is a known error with App, and to try signing in later....now it's Monday 7/11/22 and I delete the App from TV and when I try to install it again it can't install at all. Someone please help. Thus seems like a money scheme to get me to buy another streaming box.

A money scheme? First off, a Samsung TV is NOT a ‘streaming box’. It is a Smart TV. You’ve never had to buy a streaming box for DIRECTV STREAM, the Samsung TV had it built in. You’ll need to buy a streaming device like a Fire Stick, Roku, or Apple TV. Furthermore, you can also get the DIRECTV STREAM Osprey box which has better performance and a nice remote.

Detuch254 - you should know what you're talking about before you write a response to someone. I never said my Samsung TV was a 'streaming box'.. Are you sure your username shouldn't be douchebag?

You posted "buy another streaming box". You haven't bought one in the first place. I think you meant "buy a streaming box".

As you've discovered, the Samsung DirecTV Stream App is junk. You'll be much happier with a $30 Roku or Firestick instead.

I think some people are confused by the different streaming options offered by Directv. There is a Directv Stream option and a Directv App option.

The Stream option is purchased separately and the App option is included with your Satellite service.

The Stream option is available on most streaming sticks and most smart tvs including Samsung.

The App version is limited to play store download on phones and streaming sticks but few if any smart tvs including Samsung. Adding to the confusion in the similarities of the names, Directv Stream for the streaming version and Directv for the app.

I have a Samsung tv that can download the Directv Stream but not the Directv app. I also have a Firestick and both services appear on it.

I have the satellite service on my home tv (Samsung) and the directv app on the firestick in my RV.

This way I get the best of both worlds for just the cost of the satellite service.

I believe Directv is going through a transistion where they are changing their offerings. The Directv streaming app was named Directv Now, but that has changed to the current 2 services. Directv Now used to be on the Samsung app list but is no longer available.
