Directv stream app on the new amazon fire cube gen 3 issue

I just got the new amazon fire cube gen 3 and and every time I use directv stream app at random times, could be 20 minutes or 3 hours the app will freeze up and it will lock up the whole fire cube OS. Once it freezes, I can’t even goto the home screen to force close the app. If I hit the home button, the screen just turns black and does nothing. The only thing that works is to literally unplug the power of the fire cube and plug it back in. After some time it happens again. This issue happens multiple times day and is very frustrating. I uninstalled the app and re installed it, cleared the cache and even factory defaulted the fire cube and still have this problem. I thought my fire cube might be defective, so Amazon sent me a new one and the new one has the same problem. No other app is causing this problem. It is only when I use directv stream. My older version of the fire cube I have may run very slow, but it has never displayed this behavior the new version has with this app.

Same for me. No other apps are freezing. I bet it has to do with the new ugly interface... so much for software engineering.
