DIRECTV STREAM remote control volume doesn’t work properly
I can decrease the volume with my DIRECTV Stream remote control but not Increase it. (I have a samsung tv.) Is there any way for me to reprogram/fix this on my own or do I need to get a replacement controller?
Thanks

Good morning @lbrown14,
Thanks for reaching out! We'll be happy to help you fix your remote control.
Please reset the remote control by doing the following:
Then, pair your remote back with the DIRECTV STREAM device. You can find more detailed instructions on pairing the remote here.
Let us know if that helps!

I had a similar issue, except the volume completely stopped working with my Samsung TV. I thought it was a TV issue, so I swapped to a VIZIO that I know functions properly, and the volume on my DIRECTV STREAM remote still doesn't work. I unpaired and re-paired the remote twice, I reset the Directv Stream receiver/box. Still nothing. I believe the remote needs to be replaced, but the website doesn't make that easy either. I'm so frustrated!

I am having the same issue that you are having (I have had the system for just 3 months). I also took the same steps that you did to fix the problem but with no success. Can't find any solutions on line. Only other suscribers who have this same issue.

I can no longer control the volume with my Directv Stream remote on my Samsung tv. It worked just fine until a week or so ago. I have unpaired and repaired the remote repeatedly, reset the box with the red button, no change. WHen we press the volume button on the remote the LEDs light both blue and red briefly.
I just gave up honestly and started using the original TV remote for volume. Annoying, but not the end of the world. Yet another thing that annoys me.

Update: I contacted them directly to troubleshoot and they finally agreed to send a new remote. Just paired it and guess what?!?! NO VOLUME CONTROL. So, to keep track... I’ve now replaced the TV AND the remote and it STILL DOESN’T WORK. Anyone care to respond and put your customer’s frustrations at ease? Or wanna keep pretending it’s not a problem?

There are many posts about this remote issue.
As I wrote in another post some days ago, I noticed that this issue started after a firmware upgrade of the DIRECTV STREAM. So I think it's a firmware issue. Since it's so widespread. So if it's really the firmware then hopefully they will fix it soon.
P.S. Some time ago there was also an issue where 5.1 surround sound went out on the boxes after a firmware update. Many people got replacement boxes without a fix. After some firmware updates (not just 1) the surround sound came back. This, eventhough they kept on saying nothing was wrong.

I found this on a search. It worked for my remote with no volume on my older Samsung tv. I reprogram the remote also.
Enter Program Mode – Press and hold the oK and menu keys simultaneously for three seconds until the Power key flashes red twice to confirm you are in program mode. STEP 2: Press VOLUME UP – Press the Volume uP key. The PoWer key will blink red once and remotebacklighting will remain on.

I had the same issue. Went into settings/system through the home button. Then to Remote & Devices. Went to program your TV remote and it was automatically set to Sony for some reason. Go down to TV and change to Samsung. I had to use my TV remote to turn down the volume to 0. Point the DIRECTV STREAM remote to the TV and it asked if the volume went up. I was able to see it did go up to 1 (since I turned down to 0). I hit yes when it asked if the volume went up. And now my remote is controlling the volume with no issue.

I wish I could say the same, but unfortunately I'm still having the issue and gave up. I use the tv remote for volume only - awful customer experience.

I have a samsung and a Panasonic. This only happened to my Samsung tv. I went to programming and found that the remote was now programmed to a Sony tv. Somehow it changed. I reprogrammed it to sync with a Samsung tv and the problem was fixed. All I can think of is that maybe some update changed the programming. Let me know if anyone else experienced this. Maybe a bug in the update software.
