DIRECTV STREAM Rewind feature
I am new subscriber still in two week trial. I have not received the digital box as of yet and currently using Amazon Firestick. I am not allowed to rewind any live tv shows such as the news, etc. Also if I try to record it will start only where I went to record even if I have been watching the show from the start. Is this the normal way for DIRECTV STREAM, I tried Hulu Live which allows that and so does my current cable service?

I received an email approx 1 week ago from DIRECTV STREAM informing me I had unlimited recordings on my cloud dvr. Technically you can record the show your watching, which will then allow you to rewind etc. you will need to go to the dvr feed in my library to watch rather than watch now tv.

This lack of rewind of live tv is enough for me to cancel DIRECTV STREAM. This is ridiculous. If I miss a news story or a funny joke, I want to go back and see it again. I can't and this is a table stakes feature. I never thought I'd have to inquiry if this was available.

I just brought the DIRECTV STREAM box home from the store for a trial as they were trying to tell me how much better it was than my current Uverse and I would save about $35 monthly. Well, unfortunately, I’ll pay the additional $35 monthly for my ability to rewind live TV. I will look into Google TV as well as that seems to be the way to go. It irritates me that Uverse not only charges me $10 per box but also a $10 fee to have HDTV. What a joke. Is it even an option not to have HDTV.

DIRECTV STREAM is not far from being the best streaming service hands down if they improve a couple of things. The channel offerings is not a problem at all overall unless you like NFL Network. The pause and rewind live TV, the few bugs here and there with the quality of the picture not being consistent on all channels, even the volume has some variations on some channels, a little stingy on the DVR for the basic service that you're paying a good penny for to start off with. If they can tweak some of these bugs and or lack of features the service could be the best one out there. Also support just seems to be lackluster at times there's just no real good feedback options that you know we're really being heard. There's no way to get feedback in the app itself like a lot of Android apps offer. There's nothing in the Roku app aside from giving you a link to a website. The service is overall good but not excellent. I think a lot of us have come over because of a few channels missing on other services. Other than that I think if the channels were available on those other services I think a lot of us would be on those instead.

JKthomas129 provides the right answer above. On the DIRECTV STREAM box ($120) and on the DIRECTV STREAM streaming service you can replay (or backup to hear something you missed) but on the DIRECTV STREAM streaming service on any other TVs using say Roku, or Firestick - you cannot back up or replay. This is certainly a problem. I will say that the DIRECTV STREAM streaming remote is the best I have seen with a previous channel key and much easier to start a recording (almost too easy). It also has very dull backlit keys. Certainly better than the 3 Roku remotes I have where you hit the mute button on the side almost every time you pick it up. You can also sort the channel menu by their channel numbers or alphabetically. But sorting by the channel number is closer to what you are used to on cable. The inability to replay is a significant shortfall for the DIRECTV STREAM service in my view.

mortman650, using the DIRECTV STREAM box, can you also pause/rewind/FF live TV on the RSNs and local channels? I signed up so I can watch the RSNs and am very disappointed that I can’t do this on Roku. I’m considering buying the AT&T box, but only if it lets me pause/rewind/FF live broadcasts on the RSNs and locals.

Wow, so I like probably many others just switched from YouTube to to DIRECTV STREAM for sole reason to get Fox Sports/Bally sports for local MLB baseball. Am I totally missing something or no support to skip forward or rewind on live TV channels on either Apple TV or Fire stick apps (and no support at all on LG smart TV’s.) I’ve tried everything, please somebody tell me I am missing something ...?

It looks like you have to buy the DIRECTV STREAM streaming device to get this feature, which is a blatant money-grab. I have a Roku and was shocked and disappointed to see that this feature is missing. You have to set up the program to record, then start watching the recording in order to have pause/REW/FF. For watching my local MLB games, I downloaded the Fox Sports Go app on Roku, which offers full pause/REW/FF functionality. Come on DIRECTV, this limitation is absurd. Bally says next year they may offer the regional sports networks directly to consumers, which Sinclair should have done a long time ago. It is unfortunate that DIRECTV is the only streaming service to offer the RSNs.

Thanks for the tip!!! Worked like a charm on Apple TV too. Can’t wait for another option, so I can go back to YouTube TV and if I have to pay Bally’s as a stand alone service so be it.

Ok. Just subscribed so I could watch the Atlanta Braves, the ONLY reason. I can’t believe all of the limitations I’ve discovered in 2 days! This service is so inferior to Hulu and YouTube. Can’t rewind? Can’t set up a different profile?! Well, at least it costs more??? I think I’ll have to keep listening to the Braves on radio.
