DirecTV Stream with Starlink
I get the following error message when I try to run the DirecTV stream via FireTV:
"Looks like we ran into trouble loading this content. Please try again on a bit"
It works with my old internet copper connection 10 MBs; Starlink download speed runs between 70 Megabits per second and 110 Megabits per second and I can stream Netflix, Amazon Prime Movies and my while my kid plays online games.
Skylink is not the problem, clearly Directv is.
Solution???

It would be easy to say that single stream services like Netflix or Amazon Prime Movies work great compared to multi-stream services like DirecTV Stream. Those are completely different services compared to live-streaming services. Rather than uploading audio and video which is live, all those services retrieve content that is already stored in the cloud.

Movies on DirecTV are not live.

Did not say they were. Just pointing out that comparing On-demand services to Live Streaming services are totally different in content delivery.

OK, unfortunate my copper connection was so slow and highspeed cable or fiber are not available at my location. I was hoping for some "setting" change so I guess not and I have had DirecTV satellite and then Streaming for over 20 years now and would hate to have to cancel.

You might try searching for Starlink in the forum to research. Others have posted in the past on the service.

I just started having this problem too. @Sacto_Ray I'm assuming you live in the Sacramento area - I'm near Sacramento too. I wonder if this is a coincidence or part of the problem?

The codecs and other protocol specifics that DirecTV Stream uses seem fairly sensitive to transit delay, jitter, and perhaps other things, much more than raw bandwidth. It may be that Starlink, especially with the currently far from complete constellation, is more subject to those than a fixed connection. The Speedtest app can provide some level of measurement of those, but if it’s a problem, there’s really nothing you can do about it.

@Jrandomuser I've had starlink & directv stream for over a year with no issues until now. When I first got starlink the dropouts were very regular but now starlink has been rock solid. I now use it for voip and its been great. (in the beginning I kept my 2nd internet connection for voip)

Having the same issue in Southern California. As of yesterday Dstream stopped working with Starlink across all devices. If I turn off wifi on my phone then it works just fine over 5g. All other streaming services are working correctly.

Same issue for the last 36 hours in Southern California. It's something between DirecTV and Starlink but I can't figure out what. Speed test is as high as 200 mbps and other apps work fine.

If you have the same problem with Sling then it looks like it isn't a DTV Stream issue.
