Directv Stream/Roku remote down arrow no longer triggers guide
Pressing DOWN on the roku remote use to bring up the guide. However that stopped working as of this morning. Directv App Build 3750102 Version 3.34.
Now to get to the guide you have to hit the Back button, then select guide (multiple button presses).

Why is this something we have to spend hours trying to figure out?

Just coming out of not having access to NBC here in Tampa Bay Area for TWO MONTHS during hurricane season because they were fighting with the provider Nexstar inconveniencing the customer and putting them in the middle - NOW they pull this inconveniencing the customer AGAIN. There was absolutely NOTHING WRONG with the interface before. IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT.

Same issue for me - I am about to switch from Directv to Fubo if this isn't fixed. The main reason I choose Directv over Fubo was because of the interface to the app on my Roku devices, and if they are going to make this kind of usability change without testing it with customers I might as well get the less expensive service and not have to deal with them.

This was the ABSOLUTE WORST update to the interface that I have ever seen. A true example of when the developers are not using their own software. They should be forced to use this, and only this, for all their Directv access for the next 10 years. As for me, I will be switching to Fubo or Youtube where the interface is not so clunky.

Since no one from DirecTV seems to care enough to respond here, I suggest people either contact customer service or reach out to @DIRECTVhelp on twitter/X. Hopefully if enough of us express our displeasure they will get this fixed quickly.

I reported it, but chat response was a waste of time.
Karan (23:47:05 EST) : In this case, let me take this as a feedback and forward it to the concerned backend team responsible for the development process. Will that be okay for you?

And somewhere along the line, Roku took out their app rating system, I can't even one-star the DirecTV app now to warn others.
I suppose they are trying to make a linear programming system work more like the pure on demand systems, but that is just a sign they don't understand their own product.

Highlight the dierctv app and press * then scroll to feedback. If enough people do this maybe they'll get the idea. I'm not on social media but if someone is please post.

If you are able to bring this forward I would note the following:
1. It appears that channel flipping (frequent switching between two or more recently viewed and/or favorite channels) is a frequent use case among a number of Roku users.
2. While the current nav scheme does support this activity, in addition to being unexpected and confusing to users, sudden disabling of the Roku down arrow and replacing this with a sequence to two previously rarely used button sequences (back followed by up) can also result in misfires and unwanted exits from the app.
3. It appears that this change was pushed to production late at night and without any announcement to users. This has resulted in a good deal of confusion. At the very least, future changes of this magnitude (especially those involving changes in navigation and remote commands) might be announced to users upon login to minimize user angst.
To be fair, there may be reasons this was done that also have to do with Roku changes impacting things deeper in the DirectTv app than we can see.
Anyway, that's my two cents on this... Once you realize it's not you (it's them) and start to get it (the new nav without the down arrow, etc. ) it's ok i guess but disappointing since the interface and ease of channel flipping were the primary reasons i chose DTV rather than YouTube.

I will be switching to fubo or youtube - this change has made directv less than useless and not worth the price now.

Not sure why the would eliminate the down button to guide shortcut. I hate the app now and they did not even replace the down function with anything. It just does nothing! Weak! You made your app worse. (I am trying to figure out how to rollback the update)

This is a pain in the butt. Can’t switch easily from live to recordings. I don’t like it.

same here. idiotic change. fundamentally core features should never be changed.
cant imagine being older and wondering what the heck just happened, down button does nothing?? not a good way to keep those on the fence about directv stream.

I do not like this interface. Very awkward to use.
