Does DirecTV Stream have 5.1 surround sound and 60FPS? What about 1080p and 4K channels?
I've been a DirecTV Stream customer since it was AT&T TV. I'm wondering if it has these features? Thanks

1. Yes, DirecTV Stream delivers whatever digital audio format the station/network provides, typically DD5.1 or PCM2.0.
2. The video resolutions are typically whatever format the HD channel provides, either 720p or 1080i. The Stream box can upscale that 1080p.
3. There are no 4K DirecTV Stream channels yet.

There are no channels broadcast in 4k to begin with for Dtv Stream to air. The only 4k tv shows I've seen in the past, on any service, are sports specials like the superbowl and all star game. Dtv broadcasts what they are provided----720 and 1080

The DirecTV Stream device (Osprey) does support 4k for apps that provide 4k content. As far as I know, none of the on-demand content provided by the DirecTV Stream content providers (networks) is in 4k either. At some point that could change and we would have to see if DTVS would offer that in 4k.

It does not support surround sound (5.1 Audio) at all, at least not when connected to my new Onkyo TX-RZ-50 surround sound receiver. I tried calling support but they didn't even know what a receiver was (is that like a sound bar??) :) I tried 2 stream boxes and both HDMI and Optical - No 5.1 audio, only 2 channels. A Roku stick with the same receiver and DTV app works fine, so it is a stream box problem.

How are you connecting to the receiver - HDMI pass-through from the Osprey or ARC from the TV?

re: How are you connecting to the receiver - HDMI pass-through from the Osprey or ARC from the TV?
The DTV stream box is connected via HDMI 2.1 to the Onkyo TX-RZ-50 surround sound receiver input, the receiver output is connected to an Epson projector (as well as the 9 speakers of course). As a test, I also connected via optical cable for audio - same result. The receiver shows that the signal is only 2 channels. When from Roku, it shows 5.1.
(I don't have Osprey, that was someone else)

The Roku could be upconverting the stereo from the DirecTV app to 5.1. Not actually 5.1.

@CCVirginia - The Osprey is the DirecTV Stream device. ("Osprey" was the code name used when the device was submitted to the FCC for approval and during the beta test. A lot of people still use the name because it is more convenient than saying "DirecTV Stream device".)
Have you checked that you have the device set for surround sound? Look at Settings>System>Audio (or something close to that) - it offers the choice of Stereo or Surround, and I don't know which it defaults to.

Yes. Odprey is set to surround and the content is true 5.1. Thanks for letting me know the code word!
Question back, are you sure anyone gets 5.1? It would be hard to tell with a sound bar!
