DON'T DELETE / DELETE

Lately on all 3 of my DTV Stream "boxes" when I come to the end of a recording then FF to the end, I don't get the DON'T DELETE or DELETE options.  It just sits on the screen, frozen.  No screensaver or anything.  I have OLED TV's which are subject to burn-in and cannot afford to have a static picture sit there forever.

Without this option it just sits there.  I then have to return to the LIST and find the recording and delete it from there.

This is a pain in the (well you know what), and, on my bedroom TV I go to sleep watching recordings.  Normally when you get the option to delete, if you don't respond it returns to live TV.  Now it doesn't.  With my OLEDs this is a problem.

Help.  They must have made a software change somewhere and it affected this and they don't realize it yet.

NOTE:  It still works correctly on my ROKU.  This just affects my DTV boxes.

Have you tried resetting your DirecTV boxes? Sometimes that will cure issues.

YES.  Didn't change the problem.  Did the Red Button reboot.

I am having he same exact problem. ..started 2 days ago and it's driving me nuts!!!! It won't bring up the delete/ don't delete and will not automatically play the next episode of a series recording. I have checked all settings and have restated the box.. no luck..  they need to fix this asap

Like I said, I have 3 boxes. One of the boxes started doing that and I checked the other two and they were OK so I thought my first box was just going bad but then a few days later one by one the other two boxes started doing the same thing. It’s really aggravating and apparently they’re not gonna fess up to it because I’ve had no response on here from DTV.

Contact support directly with your issue. Since this is just an open community forum, no one here is going to be able to fix anything. We can only suggest options based on our personal experiences.

Same problem. As a workaround don't FF just let it play to end. Then the prompt

for deletion is shown.

Same problem here for the last several weeks.  I'm guessing DTV broke something with an update just like they did with the last channel viewed per box.

If you FF to the end, just rewind a few seconds, then let it run to the end to get the prompt.  It's a pain but a workaround especially when there could be several minutes left in the recording.

BTW their answer for everything is to reboot/reset.

I record "everything" and only watch recorded shows basically.  For me, this is a pain in the, hmmm, well you know.  I called Customer Service and she made it sound like a new feature.  It's sooooo time consuming and ridiculous.  They need to FIX this ASAP!  I can't believe they've let it go on for this long.  They said calls started coming in for this around 07/02/24.

janice, I was in software development for 30 years before retiring.  One of our rules was not to take away features, only add more.  The CS rep is full of you know what.  I haven't called yet because I know it will be a waste of time but now I think I will, just because.

@difford2 you are right.  Directv version 30.6.30.21 is the version that fixed it.  Restart the Gemini box for it to take affect.  Kudos DTV, you got something right!  Hopefully they don't break it again like they did over and over with the "last channel watched" per box (they never actually fixed it but instead created the "home page" as a work around).

OMG!! FINALLY.  I just went and did the RBR on all 3 boxes and walla, now I can FF to the end of a recording and DELETE it (without all the crazy work-arounds that 50% of the time didn't work).  Aarg.

DTV.  To be able to DELETE a recording after watching it and FF'ing to the end is like a MAIN FEATURE?  Please don't wait 2 months to fix something like this again.
