Down button not working to pull up info/cc screen

I have an Apple TV remote I use for the Directv scream app and for the past month I haven’t been able to push the down button to bring up the info/cc screen. I even tried a universal remote and it still doesn’t work. The only way I can get it to work is when I use the remote on my phone. I see that I’m not the only person who has been having this problem and need to know if there is a fix. I have done multiple troubleshooting to no avail. It’s ridiculous
