DVR fast-forward commercials vs VOD?
I see other similar threads but I still have the following question:
I understand with YouTubeTV, with shows (CBS in particular) that are recorded on the cloud DVR, one can be forced to playback the show via Video-On-Demand and one is therefore unable to fast-forward through commercials. Is that the case with DirecTV Stream?
I understand live and VOD will have unavoidable commercials.
Another way to frame this question might be, “are DVR recordings ‘moved’ or 'converted' to VOD recordings?”
Thanks.

Right now Survivor is offered as VOD for seasons 41 and 42 and that VOD is coming from Paramount, so you don't have the option to FF. Unsure when season 43 will come out (seems September) but yes, you can record the new season when airing Live and you will be able to FF through ads when watching a recording.

Hello @Lowcee, we're here to help you with all your questions.
DVR recordings can't be converted into VOD recordings, it is working in the same way as always, and you can find your recordings in the same section.

@Lowcee check "Other ways to watch", lots of recorded programs can be watched as VOD but depends on the package(s) you have, I have premier, so I usually record something in progress and when I want to watch since the beginning either I restart if I have time or I go to recordings later, click on other ways to watch and then start VOD until the point where I started recording (where you can skip through ads by FF). Just sharing what I do.

@DIRECTVhelp (David) & @GTyz:
Thanks! Pardon my paranoia (and ignorance), but if I leave Frontier Fiber TV & TiVO, there's no going back. She Who Must Be Obeyed cannot abide commercials! And she LOVES Survivor! I can't screw this up!
To be clear, if I DVR a CBS show, Will I be able to fast-forward through commercials for the full nine months, even if that episode becomes available VOD? I ask because apparently, YouTubeTV (see here) cannot guarantee this.
Thanks again!
