DVR playback resets to beginning

While watching The Five on FOX News, I paused it for five minutes or so, then came back and tried to resume. It was in a commercial break, so I forwarded past the break and suddenly, it returned to the beginning of the show.  This has happened more than once.  Then, I restarted the playback and tried to get to the original location but the DVR buffers all the fast forward commands and it was almost impossible to go back.  I recently signed up for DirecTV Stream after using Hulu and Fubo.  In my opinion, Fubo had the most responsive, easiest to use DVR interface with picture preview during FF and a permanent pause if desired.  Hulu's DVR would bail out of the app if you paused too long (5 minutes?).  I only canceled Fubo because of the loss of the Discovery networks, otherwise I'd still be with them.  I'm disappointed with DirecTV's DVR and this part of the service is very important to me because of my schedule and work demands.  I'm still in my 5 day free trial so I may start looking elsewhere.

Hi @arlane. We're sorry you're having trouble with the playback resetting to the beginning, and we don't want to see you go. Normally, when you get back to the program and fast-forward, it should allow you to be back where you left off. May we know what troubleshooting steps have you done so far and what device are you using?

Hi John.  I should have told you the device.  It's an Amazon Firestick (latest version).  I have rebooted it twice and cleared the cache.  I can get back to where I left off but have to do it very carefully and slowly.

We appreciate the information. Please try to uninstall/reinstall the app, from the Fire TV menu, select Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, search for and select the App, choose the uninstall option, and follow the on-screen instructions. Let us know if this helps.

I uninstalled the app and just a few others I no longer use, cleared the cache on everything, rebooted the Firestick, then installed the DirecTV Stream app again.  After installing, I rebooted the Firestick again.  Then I watched "The FIVE", one of the programs that gave me problems yesterday and put it through several pause, rewind, fast forward sequences with no problem.  It looks like the DVR function is working much better now.  I appreciate your help!
