DVR recording playback freezes when the DVR is recording something new

While in the middle of playing back a recorded show, the screen went blank and the recording stop playing back. I could not restart the play back from that point in the recording.  I could fast forward and I would see thumbnails of future sections, but when I selected them I got a blank screen too.  I noticed that the problem started at the same time as the DVR started recording a new show.  There was only one program set to record at that time.  So does the DVR when it is recording cause problems with playing back a recording at the same time?  

I use a fire stick to access DirecTV Stream. I also have unlimited Cloud DVR.

I've never seen that problem. First thing to try if it keeps happening would be to delete and reinstall the DirecTV Stream App on your FireStick.

This is probably due to the fact that the FireStick is multitasking and having problems doing so because it is not powerful enough. After performing the troubleshooting steps @litzdog911 stated, can you provide the FireStick version (model)?

Recording has nothing to do with your device - the “DVR” is on DirecTV’s servers, and your device doesn’t need to even be turned on when a recording happens. 

Was this the only time or only recording this happened on?  Have you tried playing another recording then retrying the one you had the problem with?

I have tried today to reproduce the problem by playing back a recorded program when a new recording was going to start shortly.  The problem did not occur again.  

The recording I had trouble playing the other day, later played just fine. Go figure.

I had the playback problem occur once before, but I do not have any idea if anything had then just started to record.

So I will wait and see if this continues to happen.  If it does I will then try reinstalling the DirecTV app on the fire stick as suggested by Litzdog911.

FYI the fire stick for the TV where this problem occurred is a 2nd generation 2016 release model L5B83H.

I will post again if this problem continues and if I was able to fix it.

How about don't worry about it since it is obviously a rare occurrence. People just love to gripe.

Ludwick577 - FYI I am in the process of switching from DirecTV satellite to DirecTV stream. I have had the streaming for only 2 weeks. Therefore having my playback freeze twice merits my investigating why this may be occurring,  and if this will be an issue with streaming. Three helpful community members have offered suggestions.  You though characterized me as a person who loves to gripe.  Seems to me that you may be a person that loves to gripe about people asking questions.

I’m having a similar problem. All the other apps on my Roku are working. When I try to watch a recording on Direct TV streaming the screen gets stuck but I can hear the program. It happened yesterday afternoon but last night I could watch the recorded program. Today I’m trying to watch a different program but it’s doing the same thing. This is super frustrating because we just switched from Dish Network and I never had this trouble with it. It makes me regret switching but my husband wanted faster internet and this was part of the bundle.
