dvr'ing multiple recordings of the same show
so there's certain shows, for instance, 'nba gametime,' that, when i had u-verse i liked to record multiple times in the same night in case the first showing didn't record the whole show, like when the game that was on before it went late or something
but on directv stream i don't have this option because when you record a show, say 'nba gametime,' the dvr then does not let you record re-airings of the same episode because it thinks 'oh, you already recorded this'
i've had numerous shows not record because of this and i find it infuriating. unfortunately u-verse isn't available anymore. does anyone know if directv satellite also has this issue? if so, are there any cable providers that don't have this issue? i know youtubetv doesn't, but youtubetv recently stopped auto-extending sporting events, so the endings get spoiled now

Hi @Greenbolt. We understand the importance of recording shows and having a backup. Unfortunately, duplicate recordings are not available. However, we appreciate your input and will share it with our team for further action. DIRECTV values your feedback.

u-verse allowed you to record duplicates and youtubetv does as well

So their rules are different....Directv definitely does not allow this. It stops you getting overwhelmed with duplicates, sometimes multiples on the same day.

there's an option that allows you to only record new episodes. so there's already something built in that allows you to avoid being overwhelmed by duplicate recordings even if duplicate recordings ended up being allowed
and DirecTV could just make it to where duplicate recordings can only be done manually. that's how u-verse was

"Only allowing you to record new episodes" is one of the things that prevents you being overrun with duplicates. You can't have it both ways!!

recording only new episodes is an option that can be turned on or off. recording duplicates could also be an option that could be turned on and off, and if there were a manual option then you could record single duplicates and not be overrun with a million of them
you can easily have it both ways
