Fast-forward UI change

@DIRECTVhelp requested I create a new post for this..

I'm using a Firetv device (FireOS 6.2.8.1 with v4.0.22.35522 of the DirecTV Stream app). The UI for fast-forwarding appears to have updated today. Previously I could fast forward in increments of 2x, 4x, 8x or 16x normal speed. The UI would smoothly update the progress bar and time within the recorded program so that I could see how far I was fast-forwarding. Post-update the UI to only have options for fast-forward with values of "1,2,3,4" -- I don't know what those correspond to (are they the same multiples of normal speed?). The progress bar and time do not update smoothly during fast-forward -- it seems to jump. It makes it really hard to determine how far one has fast-forwarded in a recorded program (ex: watching a recorded baseball game and attempting to fast-forward through commercials while trying not to miss the start of the next inning). It makes the service much less user friendly for this purpose. My hope would be that the UI change on fast forwarding could be reverted or otherwise improved to provide the viewer visibility to how fast one is fast-forwarding and where one is within a recorded program.

Hi @dahayr here to help.

You can fast forward in live shows only from the DIRECTV stream box, and the fast forward for 15 seconds is available in other devices but only in the recordings.

At the end please try to uninstall and install the app again in order to fix the issue related to the how much time has been forwarded.

Please try this and let us know what happens.

@dahayr @You are not alone. I’ve been trying to describe and give more information on it - which can be difficult. It appears to be an issue with their update with those that use firestick. (Side note: I was previously a AT&Ttv customer - until the “name change”, “update”, or “conversion”),

@DIRECTVhelp removing the Direct Stream app and reinstalling, doesn’t work. (I do have a separate post or comment regarding it as well).

@DIRECTVhelp I have to agree with @dahayr and @afrancis430 in regards to this issue. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app does nothing. This is how it is even on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, along with my house full of fire sticks. I even switched to ALL fire sticks due to when this app was previously DTVNow and then AT&T TV Now the app was removed from the Roku store, and I was TOLD by the rep I spoke with in chat that I needed to get a fire stick as it would be more capable for my streaming needs. Specifically referenced that device. And now that DTV took over again with the app update at the end of last month it seems I've had nothing but issues. I am a grandfathered customer since DTVNow first came out (when it was just $25 a month mind you! not these astronomical prices) and I was never told I needed to have a box from DTV or AT&T to have full functionality of my services. This is ridiculous as when trying to fast forward any program I've recorded on my allotted 20 hours of free cloud DVR the process is BEYOND sluggish, (Edited per community guidelines) around, has very VERY slow response time, and is very poor use, no matter what device I use to stream. What can be done to assist this other than canceling my services @DIRECTVhelp

Easy fix for these app issues. Get a Dtv Stream box.

One of the major selling points of switching to AT&T Streaming (now re-branded DirectTV) was that I didn't need a unitasker device dedicated to it. I don't want to add a new hardware device for the service that was sold as not needing it. I want the service to work as sold on FireTV devices like it did prior to the -rebranding.
