Frozen screens on DIRECTV via Internet/STREAM devices

If you are experiencing freezing with your DIRECTV device, perform a factory reset by holding the red button on your device for 20 seconds. It may require multiple resets. This will also restore your settings back to default and you will need to enter your login credentials again for access.    We apologize for the inconvenience.

This worked for me!  After trying a recommended 10-second press that did not work, I tried this 20-second press, and the box subsequently booted correctly.  And yes, to factory-reset state, so I had to re-connect the remote, enter credentials, etc.  But everything is working fine now.

Thank you!

Thank you, I spent the last two days trying to talk to Direct TV thru Text, Chat and Phone and they said it was a nationwide outage, which was true, but they had no idea why and told me to wait 24 hours, but nothing happened. I got a $5 dollar credit for all my time and at the end of the day it was this forum that helped. Not the 20 sec hold but the hitting the button 10 times and surprising it worked. It was a hard reset, but no worries, did not have to buy a new for $120 dollars.  Thank you Forum.

This worked great had to hold the red button for 20 seconds two times and the box finally reset. Then I entered my internet and credentials. Back in business 😎!!!
