Hockey on Bally Sports North has choppy video
The last three Minnesota Wild games have been unwatchable due to flickering, choppy video on BSN, but only when using a Roku device (two different ones, two different displays). The video is fine on Apple TV 4k device. Did something change? The video had been flawless for years prior to last week's games.

January 12 update. The choppy video issue appears to have been fixed on Bally Sports North.

Last night's Wild game was good here, too. Someone must have fixed something.

It was on Bally Sports North Xtra. Wolves game was choppy last night on Bally North. Wild game tonight on Bally North is choppy again. What’s the fix?

I had the exact same issue with the Saturday Wild/Coyotes game on Bally Sports North after enjoying good video the night before. @dhhalvor12 , good call-out on Bally Sports North vs. Bally Sports North Xtra. Choppy video appears to be an issue on the main BSN channel but not the Xtra channel.
My solution for the time being is to watch the game on the Bally Sports app. It’s rather annoying that I need to do that, though, given how much I pay DirecTV each month.

Yes, choppy again last night on BSN for Wild/Coyotes game. I noticed that the "good" game was on BSNX. Must be a BSN camera/transmission issue. The weird thing is that the problem only occurs when using Roku box with a 4k TV. When using Roku with a 1080p TV the video is fine. Also, using Apple TV box with 4k TV is fine. Very strange.

UPDATE: It's 100% a Roku + DTV problem. I switched to Google TV and it's running DTV + Bally Sports super smooth.

I agree it is a Roku +directv issue, I have 2 smart TV’s so no Roku device and video for hockey on BSN is perfect I also have two different TV’s with 2 different roku devices and BSN video for hockey is jittery and unwatchable as of the last several weeks

Same here. Bally's Sports Midwest Blues games on a Roku Ultra and a 4k tv and it's choppy.
Been choppy for weeks now.
Switched to a Google TV device and it runs just fine. Real smooth.
Choppiness also happens on other tvs with different Roku devices.
Really annoying.

Same problem. DTVS + Roku (multiple models and new ones) on Ballys Sports .... unwatchable basketball games. I can use the Ballys app, but honestly not why I signed up for DTVS. How do we get traction on this? Call and open multiple engineering tickets? Thanks

I just pinged DirecTV support for an update on this. They said that they are aware of this issue and expect it to be resolved in the next day or two. Not holding my breath on that timing, but that's what they told me.

I am experiencing the exact same issues using my ROKU devices. I been watching the Wild games for years with the same equipment and its been a great experience up until the past month. Looks like I'm watching sports on Sling.... very bad experience now with DirectTV Steam and Ballys. Help???

I honestly think this is a Bally's issue. I noticed the glitching and then watching the highlights on my local news channel the highlights had the same glitches.

My newer Roku Ultra was working OK, so I updated my other older Ultra with a Roku Express 4k+ ($29) and it is working fine now. I have other Roku TVs that I am not going to upgrade or add an external Roku for them to work better, so I am using the Ballys app on those (which is a pain). I have a 4k stick that is also OK, so it is really just the older hardware. But all of the other channels are fine on the older ones, even for sports. And the older Rokus are not really that old :(
