How to stop automatic changing to Spanish while watching HBO channels
While watching movies on HBO channels, Directv Stream app on Samsung tv freezes, and comes back on after a few seconds but language is changed to Spanish. We have good Wi-Fi strength at tv and no other problems with any other streaming app. Only DTV Stream has this problem. We have to manually go into the “I” setting and switch language back to Default (English). Have deleted and reinstalled app to no avail. This has been happening for several weeks.

I don't know about anyone else, but i want a rate adjustment.
If AT&T had a good app what did DirecTV do to screw it up?
Is the AT&T app still available for use?

I don't think the AT&T app works or is even available any longer since AT&T moved the tv streaming service back over to DTV. I have no idea what financial / regulatory games they're possibly playing by switching the service back and forth but the bottom line is - we lose out.

Maybe it's the model of your Samsung tv. I'm using RU7100 only certain years are compatible with the stream app.

My samsung model is listed on the supported tv models. It is UN55MU8000. It has to be the app. All other apps work fine and the directv stream app works on Android phone and Apple iPad just fine. My tv software also is on the latest version for my tv. 1300.003. I hope the figure the issue out soon with the app on samsung smart TVs. Otherwise will try youtube tv.

Mabryan84 thanks for posting that. That eliminates the “compatibility list” as a determining factor. Mine is a highly rated (on multiple sites) 2020 model but not on DTV Stream’s current compatibility list. However, since the ATT TV Now app worked, it was only logical to expect their successor’s app (for the exact same streaming service) to work equally as well.

I've been using this streaming service for almost 4 years. I've had them with three different names and this transition had me looking at different services.
I know I don't have an equipment problem....I've worked with systems since 1997.

I have a 2021 Frame Tv and use the direcTv stream app. It does the same thing to me on only network that channels, which is usually on Sunday for football. I have to switch channels and then switch back to the original network. I believe it’s the app. I don’t have the strongest internet @75 MBs, but it’s connected directly via Ethernet cable.

The Samsung app have been crap for a long time. Best to use an external device (Roku, Firestick, Appletv, Dtv stream box)

We switched to a Firestick and all the problems went away, it’s definitely the Samsung app.

DirecTV needs to get their act together...

We have the same problem. It has happened several times today. It wasn’t just HBO with the issue. Today it was football! (Our TV is new)

I have the exact same issue on 3 different Samsung TVs. I’ve only had this happen watching football.

Tonight I found an App I never installed: PRENDE TV (a Spanish Simulcast app)
What is even worst is there isn't an uninstall or delete. I wonder if this is something relating to the language problems everyone has been having.
I didn't have the language change problem until yesterday and I see the app was installed on November 30th. The language change happen when I was watching HBO through the DirecTV app and then is happened on another channel today while using the app.

I spoke with the manager of the local retail store where I bought the Samsung QN55Q90T last year. They in turn called the head of Samsung training (I'm assuming training for sales & service reps.)
That head of training for Samsung told the store manager that, since the change from AT&T TV Now to DirecTV Stream, Samsung has not yet gotten an agreement to license the app from whoever owns DirecTV Stream. They didn't have any problems with AT&T, but whoever runs DirecTV isn't resolving the problem.
So someone is dragging their feet on the technical solution and it sounded like it isn't Samsung, but, since TV makers have to pay fees for each third party streaming app that they make available via their Smart TV platforms, who knows? It could be a money thing thats holding up progress.
