Install VideoGuard Player
I was trying to watch Directv on my laptop. I went onto the Directv website, logged in, and got a pop-up to “download FREE VideoGuard13.0.exe” in order to continue. I did the download and everything seemed to work fine after that. I just wanted to confirm that this download was legit and not a virus or malware or anything?

Nope, it’s not virus or malware. If it was, we would all be affected by now. As long as you download is straight from The DIRECTV website then you should be totally fine.

Been watching on a laptop over Windows and Linux and never installed any VideoGuard player. I just log in over Chrome browser and it works.

@philoT The VideoGuard player is used for DirecTV satellite, not DirecTV Stream.

I was watching on my laptop just fine this week, then I got the same message to install the video player, which I did, and it still is asking me to download it again and again. Using Chrome and Windows 10. Any thoughts on what to do next?

DirecTV Stream does not require the player. The player is only needed for DirecTV satellite service. Are you a DirecTV satellite or DirecTV Stream internet subscribers? If satellite then you are in the wrong forum.
