Intermittent black screen
Super annoying! In the middle of a show, the screen goes black for about 5 seconds. This happens about every 5 minutes. Tried all the uninstall/reinstall, power off & on, log out & in, etc etc to no avail. Anyone else having this issue?
I have a Samsung "Smart" TV but this does not happen with any of the other 25 apps I have. This is so problematic if it doesn't get solved soon I'm definitely unsubscribing. Not worth the hassle with multiple other apps out there to use that cost the same or less!

Use a separate streaming device instead of the terrible DirecTV Stream app for the Samsung smart tv.

Many of us are experiencing the same problems. I know it was fine as an AT&T app and why the functionality is problematic now has yet to be determined.
You'll hear all sorts of responses but in short there is no silver bullet at this time. While this is a Dtv site, they are limited to what they can do for you.
Samsung is aware of the issue and is addressing it with DirecTV.
In short...We are no being told the whole story as of this post, but I'm sure there will be a resolve and hopefully before DirecTV loses more customers.
I've noticed many of the Dtv channels no looking so crisp and when the black screen hits you notice your TV picture first looks horrible and slowly adjusts to your internet bandwidth to get the best picture stream available to you. However, I'm inclined to believe this is a Dtv problem regardless of your internet speeds.

I have gig Fios and I see the problem on PC, Fire TV and apple TV .... never had this or any similar problem with YTTV. Left them for lack of 5.1 and attitude towards NBC, but what good is 5.1 when the TV stream blacks out every 5 minutes or so. I reported this once before from the DVR, but no answer or improvement.

I've been making contact with main Stream Media: ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX
Seeking to get an Investigative Reporter to do a Special Interest Story about how many of us have cut the cord only to be left in a quagmire of non or partially functional Services.
The Services sell us on their packages and more than 50% of the Subscriber Base has problems that continue to go unanswered.

I had this problem starting with an update a couple of months ago. Directv sent a reset to my Samsung TV saying it would fix it. It didn't. I asked again and they said they would escalate my problem and get back to me. They didn't. Now using an AppleTV device as a workaround.

It seems that all devices have issues in one manner shape or from....
The people that are supposed to keep the subscriber base happy are doing a poor job. Services & Manufacturers pointing their fingers at each other aren't helping.

I am also experiencing the same issue when streaming via DirecTV app on my smart Samsung TV set (Class 8 Series LED 4K UHD, Model UN55TU8000FXZA). I do not have this issue via DirecTV streaming box. It used to work before w/o any issues. Lately, it is so annoying, please resolve ASAP.
I don't see this issue on my smart Samsung TV set while I am watching other streaming apps like HBO Max, Disney+, Netflix etc.

@sshrestha Report the issue to a support rep like everyone else. No one here will fix anything. This is only a general open community forum of subscribers sharing ideas and experiences.

If you call support you may get a $5 credit without even having to ask. And reset something and tell you it is fixed. What's not to like!

Yes there are issues on all devices with Samsung app being the worst. Even the DirectTV steam box has an issue or two like robotic motion at times on some channels. Even if HDR is off and lowering to 1080p using a gig fiber Ethernet connection.
