I've used most of the streaming services and have some questions about DirectTV stream.

Want to see if I'm missing something on some of these things or if they could be addressed as they are quite simple and exist on nearly all other streaming platforms.  So far I'm pleased with this service and am moving from Hulu as I travel around the US quite a bit and it's EXTREMELY irritating that hulu only let's you access content while at home or on a mobile device.  So for the this service is a huge win.   Issues:

1)  Not seeing any indication in the guide when I have a program set to record.  This is a pretty basic thing that's even existed when I was using windows media player through an xbox 10 years ago.

2)  Would be great when you look at the info of a show it also showed you other similar programs that you might like...Hulu does do this wonderfully...Shouldn't be that hard to add.

3)  When searching for a program on the Roku app it doesn't show possible queries as you type.  For example if you search for Gold Rush.  When you type Gold, nothing shows up...You need to type the entire show and then hit search.  We searched for Sunday Morning to set to record and after typing it in Saturday Morning was the only option...We later found out you need to type Sunday Morning News, or something like that...Was pretty ridiculous actually...Another seemingly very easy fix...

I'm posting this here as maybe I'm missing something on some of these...If not, I'm curious where you make suggestions for some of these simple fixes to be made.  Ton of potential here...really just need to copy from the successes of others at this point...Shouldn't be too tough.

Not really the answer I was expecting...But I'm curious, which of these issues would be solved by buying another streaming box?

because the stream box is a lot more stable and has more features than any of the apps.

That's good information and I appreciate it, but I think it's safe to assume that 90+% of people that use this service are going to be on a Roku or Amazon Fire Stick...So I would think they better get on improving the apps...These aren't difficult things to address and if they really think people are going to switch to DirectTV Stream once they find out they need to replace all of the streaming devices in their house for the "best experience" then it ain't gonna happen.

I actually think most users now use or eventually switch to the stream box. There are just some features apps will never get b/c of the remote and functionality of the box. Apps will never give the best experience for something like this. And u can get a box for like 40 bucks on Ebay so it's not like they break the bank.

Yeah 5 tvs...Honestly, I'm sorry, but it makes 0 sense what you're saying...Maybe Netflix can come out with their own box, and hulu, and you tube, and disney and etc...Not sure if you're an employee of dtv but truthfully your solution is absurd.  The best part is these services are month to month which makes it very easy to jump ship when someone comes out with something better.  Here's a fun fact, nearly 60% of US households use either Roku or Amazon Fire Stick, article: https://thestreamable.com/news/smart-tv-use-rises-in-us-57-percent-of-households-use-roku-or-amazon-fire-tv

So you're honestly going to keep going with the belief that dtv should just blow of simple fixes to their apps on these devices thinking that people are going to spend $40 for a used box on each tv?  When they already own a Roku or Fire Stick and those only cost about 20 bucks now...

To be honest I thought dtv would have some of there employees on here listening for customer suggestions and making changes on them to attract more business but instead there's just you telling people to go spend another 40 bucks per tv on a new box.  Lucky me.  Great business model.

I'm not an employee. I'm a satisfied customer. There is a reason why youtube tv and hulu tv don't come out with their own boxes---their services are not as good as Directv stream. Not sure what your point of being rude is I only originally responded to your post because I was taking the time to try and help. But you are just obnoxious so I am done with you. Fun fact, just b/c 60 percent of households have a roku or firestick does not mean 60 percent of all households utilize a cable like streaming service like youtubetv, hulu live, or directv stream. Also that poll does not indicate what percentage of directv stream customers use roku or firestick directv stream app vs how many customers use the Dtv stream box.

Other streaming services are not as good?  Please enlighten me...Original content...ah no...channel offerings...ah no...User experience on the app...ah no...Price...ah no...Listen, I know dtv is new to getting serious about the streaming game and has had more issues than you can count getting to this point...But if their management had even half a brain then improving user experience on the app should be the number 1 priority...And putting an employee in their OWN FORUM to take suggestions would cost almost nothing...I don't mean to be rude but I originally asked about some simple improvements to the app and your ONLY suggestion is to buy a new box for each tv for 40 bucks...Speaks volumes of how low of a bar you have for this company.  Unless you're living in 1980 these services are all about the apps, period...they lost the hardware game years ago...let it go...
