Jutter / Frame Rate issue.

Just got DirecTV Stream and am having an issue. When ever I use the DTV Stream Box and  tune to a channel, say ESPN, or MLB or Fox News, if there are any graphics scrolling across the bottom of the screen, they are juddering, after about 10-11 seconds, it clears up, the scroll is nice and smooth and all is well. However, if I leave the channel and turn back, the same thing happens.

Also I noticed when I surf other channels, say ESPN and there's a basketball game on, the picture is fuzzy, for about 10-11 seconds, then it clears. Here's the kicker, If I use the Directv Stream app with my Apple TV box, I don't have this issues.( It's only with the Direct TV Box oh and it does the same thing with my  Roku as well). The apple tv works flawlessly.

I've tried ethernet, 5ghz, 2.4ghz connections. I've even hooked it up to numerous TV's, and I get the same issue. I've checked the video settings, they are defaulted to 1080p, I've tried every single video setting and nothing works.  Again, if I run the app through Apple TV Box, all is well.  There is an issue with the box DTV Stream provides and it's ability to properly scale, or pass through (sorry, I'm not a tech guy) the proper signal at the proper "frame rate"??

I called DTV and all they tell me is, "this is not a known issue and they have not received any complaints about this". I can't believe this is true. I've tried 5 different DTV Streaming boxes, and every one exhibits the same behavior.  I even googled to see if there was some hidden service menu within the box I could access.

Also I have 500Mbps internet from Cox. I called them as well and they could not offer  any suggestions / settings I could change within my Panoramic router.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Has anyone else had this issue?

Direct tv streaming app has issues.  Watching the same hockey game on espn application and the picture and sound are fine.  When I switch back to direct tv streaming app,  the audio is out of sync and video is jumpy.  Looks like I will not be a customer for long…

I don't know what issue you are encountering (I haven't noticed anything similar, but I don't watch hockey), and I don't know which network or RSN you are watching.  However, at least as a workaround, if the coverage on the ESPN works for you, you can continue to watch that - your DirecTV Stream subscription includes access to the ESPN app.

Same stutter/judder/audio lag issue watching hockey games on multiple channels in May 2023 on a chromecast with Googletv 4k. The device is right near my router as well with an 600mb connection. Even worse trying to watch something that is recording in the cloud. The only solution I have to share is that you can start the program on the iPhone DIRECTV app, then chromecast it to the active chromecast on your tv.

Purchased a direct TV box and all is working better now.  Firestick does not work well for hockey on direct tv app.  Not sure why.  Firestick is good for sports on ESPN app and NESN app.

The Fire Stick device works fine. Not sure what your issue is, but I have no issues with the device.

I don't understand why DTV won't acknowledge this problem.  It can't be that hard to figure out why so many customers have issues with Judder (like myself) on new equipment and high speed internet.  WHY does DTV completely ignore the reality and explain what they are doing to investigate/address the problem? I'll be canceling my service partially because the judder sucks, but more because no one at DTV will take ownership and actually attempt to help.  Quit saying "update your app or restart your service."  that's insulting.

As I already stated, I have no issues with my Fire Sticks. I am retired and travel full time in my RV. I use the Fire Stick with my mobile data, public Wi-Fi's, and hotels. Furthermore, I have never experienced a frame rate jutter or judder issue. To state so many others are having the issue is just not correct. I am not saying you are not having issues, but only those having issues would be posted here in the forum, and It's really not many compared to the subscription base. What do you expect them to do at this point?

oh i don't know - address it - actually dig into why some customers have this problem - not just say "small percentage so who cares." explain why a good number (not zero) are having this issue.  You're seriously going after the customer who pays for service every month who ONLY has issues with DTV app and no others?

You? I am just a subscriber like you. I am currently on a Cracker Barrel parking lot watching a golf tournament. No issues. Everyone's setup and environment is different. You just can't do this and that on a fly based on assumptions. Maybe the service is just not for you. Maybe the device don't work for you. Who knows.

why are you here? to tell people they (Edited per community guidelines) who have issues?  good grief man.  I didn't realize it was terrible for customers who have bad experiences to express it.  Help or go away.

weird that you came in here to attack a customer for having issues and frustrated that DTV doesn't at least try to help.  You don't even work for them and you get all defensive and decided that you would attack someone trying to get anyone to offer some advice since this has been an issue for years with DTV.  You come back with "it's not for you and I'm awesome at Cracker Barrel and that I'm not worth it.  lol.  Interesting character.  It's good that you don't work for them cuz this would have ended that.

@bcbsncjlj Why are you minimizing our negative experience with Directv stream just because you aren't having the same issue on your phone? We are talking about popular streaming devices made by big companies like Google, not working properly with directv stream, whereas all of our other apps play 4k hdr higher bandwidth streams just fine. There clearly needs to be an update to the android version of the app at least.
