Location error

Trying to use DirecTV stream app and it keeps saying that it can't find my location and says my location is turned off. My location is turned on, connected to WiFi, and still get the same message. What do I need to do? Also, I don't have anything else turned on that messes with your location, such as battery optimization.

The service needs to use location services to know where you are to provide the correct local channels and RSN's. What device are you using?

Hello @Kcmofo, we want you the enjoy the best of our streaming experience in your mobile device.

Please reinstall the app, and after do so, go to "Settings" and select "Privacy" > Turn on "Location Services" so your location can be accessed while using the app > Close your settings and restart the DIRECTV STREAM app.

Let us know how it goes, we're here to help.

I went to my privacy settings to check location. It says it's on and showed my the time (minutes ago) it accessed my location. Still not working.

@Deird16

Location in the app also has to be on. If it is already on try turning off then turning back on, that has worked foe me. Might have to restart device also.

@Deird16 as others have stated please try restarting your device so that it gets the most up-to-date settings that were just applied by you, the user. If still not fixed, you should dig deeper into Location Settings for the actual App, perhaps the app is prohibited from using Location Services.

Is there a known issue with google WiFi mesh system and DirecTV stream location errors? I get non-stop errors and I have not moved. I'm not super tech savvy, but maybe the google WiFi pucks all have different IP addresses? If so, is there a fix for this?

Just additional info:

here are two settings related to location that need to be enabled for the app to stream.
1) Location services are enabled - this one is easy as most customers know how to enable this
2) Location permissions for the DIRECTV app also need to be enabled.
Find which apps use your phone's location
  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Touch and hold Location .
  3. Tap App location permissions.
  4. Under ”Allowed all the time," “Allowed only while in use,” and “Not allowed,” find the apps that can use your phone's location.
  5. To change the app's permissions, tap it.
