Number of concurrent streams outside your household
I was informed by a Customer Service Rep that I would be able to have 3 concurrent streams outside my household while still able to stream inside my household. I tested this and it is not accurate. The 3rd stream was unable to connect because it said that there were already 2 streams connected. What is the policy of concurrent streams outside my household?

DIRECTV specifically says (at https://www.directv.com/support/stream/article/KM1354360/)
Do you have a modern DIRECTV stream plan or a grandfathered DIRECTV Now plan?
Exactly what did the message you got say?

I read that article also but found it inaccurate. On the 3rd on the go stream, I receive a message saying something to the effect of there are already 2 streams in use. I was not able to do the 3rd stream. I was only able to view the Guide grid.
I chatted with a DirecTV Stream agent and he said that only 3 concurrent streams are available....1 in house (or upto 20) and 2 on the go.

We're here to answer your questions about DIRECTV STREAM streaming limits @Loud.
Thanks for your expert opinion ACE @JefferMC.
You can stream on up to 20 compatible device maximum provided it's connected to your home network in total. That simply means 17 stream on Home network and a maximum of 3 streaming device can be accessed out of home.
Note that the 3 out of home streaming device will be restricted to 2 when your streaming devices are connected to a TV. For example: one DIRECTV STREAM device and one Firestick.
You can learn more about device and stream limits here.
Let me know if you have other question.

Now I do see this buried in the article.
That's splitting hairs a bit fine, doncha think, DIRECTV?
And, Bolanie, this statement you made above
is inaccurate. You wanna fix that?

So the third streaming device would have to be a phone or tablet? Now I'm confused!

Apparently. Wow. And people are supposed to understand this. Sigh.

And what does "connected to a TV" really mean? If I have a Roku box out-of-home, but it's not connected to a TV, does that count? Or if the TV is turned off? Seems like an arbitrary restriction.

You're limited to two simultaneously "active streams" on devices that would normally be connected to a TV (i.e. doesn't have its own screen) outside "your home network."
You may have a total of three simultaneously "active streams" on any valid device outside "your home network."
