Pause on Live TV Does not work for Long Period of Time

I am streaming with the AT&T DirecTV Stream box.  I have a theory that a momentary glitch in Wi-Fi connectivity might cause the pause feature to fail, and then it is not possible to rewind to the spot where the pause button had been pressed.  I don't know if this theory is correct, but I think it's plausible.

How often are you having the issue with the feature to pause Live TV programming?

We appreciate the additional information, please try pausing a Live show for 5 minutes and make sure the Wi-Fi connection is working properly.

It has not happened again recently, but it has happened more than once in the past.  I'll make another post on this thread if it happens again.

This happens to me constantly. It just did it now. I paused something on CNN so I could go make some food for about 15 or 20 minutes, then when I clicked on Play, it went through the boot-up splash screen and then started on live tv. Rewind had no buffer. This happens constantly!

Which streaming device do you use?  Last time I checked, pause still didn't work properly on FireTV devices.  However, even there you shouldn't get a splash screen - it just resumes. 

I don't know what Nick4978 uses, but for me I am using the AT&T DirecTV box.

@bigk200 If you are using the AT&T box, it's no longer supported. That box is very old. AT&T and DirecTV separated and are 2 different companies.

I use the AT&T DirecTV stream Android TV Wireless 4K box, model number C71KW-400.  I have three of them in my house, and all three of them cannot stay on hold for more than 10 or 15 minutes.

The “AT&T box” is the “DirecTV box”.  There’s only ever been one piece of hardware (the C71kW).  They may have replaced the death star logo on the front plexiglas. It wouldn’t surprise me too much of they hadn’t on the FCC type acceptance label on the bottom. 

Certainly the firmware has been updated - the first thing they did after the spin-off closed was to change the logos that were displayed on-screen.   But that same firmware runs regardless of the logo on the box itself. 

It’s quite possible that they screwed up pause handling in the backend, which would affect all platforms. I rarely use paused anything for more than a couple of minutes recently, so I have no info. 

I'd just hit record on the show you are watching when you plan on pausing for a long time.

Have you tried restarting the Dtv Stream box? I've seen that glitch, on occasion. But it is rare for me. Doesn't happen "constantly" to me.
