Picture Freezes But Not Audio

Starting yesterday, I'll be watching DirecTV Stream on my Roku and the picture will freeze but the audio continues to play (the picture never unfreezes). If I change channels it does the same thing after maybe 10 seconds. Help!

(I have DirecTV Stream Version 3.30 build 3340100)

The first thing to try is deleting and reinstalling the DirecTV Stream App on your Roku. Which Roku model do you have?

@litzdog911  Thanks for the suggestion. We have Roku Express 4K+. So far deleting and reinstalling the app seems to be working. We have the same rokus on all our tvs but it was just one tv that was having this freezing issue.

I'm now experiencing this as well.  One device, a Roku Express.  Have multiple roku expess devices, and roku tv's as well, but only happening on this one device.  Picture freezes, audio continues, every time, every channel, after exactly 12 seconds.  Tried the suggestions made in this thread. No luck.

@greatpretender5150  I would try again but this time try doing it this way.  Delete the app then reboot your Roku device then reinstall the app. Hopefully, this will get you watching again normally.

@Tiger593 @greatpretender5150 It was working again for us for a little while after deleting and reinstalling the app multiple times. However it started acting up again a week or two ago. Lately we just unplug and replug the hdmi cable and it'll work again. But pretty much every day the problem keeps happening. I saw in another thread that someone actually spoke to someone at DirecTV and was told they were aware of the problem and were working on it. Only time will tell.

I have read that this is an ongoing issue and hopefully this will be resolved for all Roku users.  Just keep doing what you can until they find a fix.  It can definitely be frustrating when it does not work as we expect it to and fixes unfortunately can take a while.

The HDMI unplug-plug trick seems to have fixed it - annoying to have to do that - but for now if that fixes it, so be it.  Hope they get an actual fix to this soon.  Thanks all for the help!

Still happening here more than a month later. Getting really annoyed having to keep getting up to unplug and replug the HDMI cable. I know that isn't much to do, but it shouldn't be happening.

@Eddie67 @BlixStZoo I know it can be very frustrating that things are not working as they should but sometimes it just takes time to find what is making it do this and come up with a solution to fix it.  You could also try a new High-Speed HDMI cable as the problem could be in the cable if unplugging and plugging back in seems to help. Also maybe try plugging it into a different HDMI port on your tv.  Hopefully, something helps you with this issue.

@Tiger593 I know things take time, but this has been going on for a couple of months. And before this problem there was a whole other problem going on with the app on Roku devices. And it's happening on all of our tvs. I've seen other posts from people saying DirectTv told them it would be fixed soon. And yet here we are and it's still happening. I'm going to stick with it and keep using DirecTV because I refuse to go back to cable. I just wish it would get fixed once and for all. As for the HDMI cables, all of them are new as we got them when we got our Roku devices when switching to DirecTV Stream.
