Record first-run episodes of a series only
We have DirecTV Satelilte at another location. With my DTV Stream here, I do not get the choice of whether to record first-run episodes. If I choose a series - for example NCIS - my Stream records every episode of NCIS repeats on any channel in addition to the first-run. That means, I have to go back and delete, delete, delete.
I've called the toll-free number, and there seems to be no solution right now. PLEASE give viewers a choice to record first-run episodes of a series only! Thank you.

When streaming device do you use?
With my streaming devices I can select "New Episodes" or "All Episodes" when setting up a Series Recording.

Double-check what @litzdog911 suggests. If you're already recording "New Episodes" then, this is a metadata-related thing. The old NCIS episodes come for sure as new from Paramount. The only one having new NCIS episodes is from KCBS (I'm in the LA area, but you should have the local CBS where NCIS is airing). This has been reported in multiple forums (last year, not recently). However, reporting it here might be useful somehow for DTV to push to get better metadata from the providers OR improve the recording features (record by channel).

Thanx for the reply.
Unlike with DTV Satellite, I don't get a choice on Stream to specify "first run" episodes. That should be updated. Hope DTV Stream is listening.

You never told us what streaming device you're using. You should have a choice between "New Episodes" and "All Episodes" when setting up a Series Recording.

Am using DirecTV Stream, with their box. Those choices have never appeared when using DirectTV Stream. I've looked in Settings, Preferences and Account to see if a choice could be made, but have been unable to find it. It does NOT appear when choosing a series to record like DirecTV Satellite does.

Go to the show you want to record and after you have gone onto it go to where it says record and hit ok then a little window will pop up that says ok or record series if you select record series then it will take you to a new window where you can choose all episodes or new episodes. Once you have chosen new or all episodes you then would have to go down and select record series. Then you are all done setting up your series recordings. Hope this helps you.

Those little popup boxes to choose when recording do NOT pop up. Don't know if I have old software or what. Believe me, I've looked everywhere to find the setting, with no luck.

DirecTV Stream (C71K) boxes automatically update their software, so I doubt you have old software. When did you get the box? The instructions in the link I posted are pretty clear. How exactly are you setting up Series Recordings? You need to search for the desired series in the Channel Guide, select to record, and then you should see the "New Episodes" or "All Episodes" choice. Of course, this also assumes that the show is a regular series. Some shows don't register as a "series".
