Recorded programs don't always start at the beginning when played
Why don't my recorded programs always play from the beginning? It records the entire show, but when I hit play they randomly start somewhere in the middle. Sometimes they start near the beginning and sometimes near the end. Why? This is especially frustrating for sporting events if they start playing half way through and I see the score!

I haven't noticed that issue. What streaming device are you using? When did the problem start?

As for hitting resume, these are new recordings I haven't watched yet. They should automatically start from the beginning like they used to. They start playing somewhere in the middle and it's not consistent. I don't get it.

You might try deleting and reinstalling the DirecTV Stream app.

Try access your recordings from the dtv stream website or your phone app and see if the same thing happens.

When you said try deleting and reinstalling the DirecTV Stream app, did you mean on my TV? I looked and didn't see any options to do that.
I've never tried accessing recorded shows from my library on the DirecTV Stream website or my phone before. It worked fine on both. Then I tried (again) watching a couple of recordings on my tv and they started properly from the beginning. I'm not sure what changed, but it seems to be working right now. I will monitor for a while and report back if the issue continues.

You said you had a Firestick as your device. Apps are stored on the streaming device. Deleting or adding the app is just like any other app. When you are using the Firestick your TV is only being used as a display of the content from the Firestick.

Got it. I was looking on the app itself. I've never deleted an app before, but found where to do it on the Firestick home page under apps and channels. If the problem continues, I'll try that. Thanks!

Unfortunately, I'm still having the same issue with recorded programs starting in the middle when played. This time I tried hitting the back arrow and clicking on Start Over (rather than manually rewinding) and it just stayed on wherever it started in the middle. I looked at reinstalling the DirecTV app, but it said I would loose all of my data. Is that true? Will I loose all of my saved programs and favorites? Would I have to reinstall the app on each TV with a Firestick?

You can safely delete and reinstall the App. All of your recordings are stored in the cloud, not locally. Same with your Favorites. Not sure if you'll need to reinstall on all TVs. Should only be needed where you're having this issue.

Ok. I reinstalled the DirecTV app. All of my recordings are still there. I tried watching a couple of them and they all started at the beginning so far. I'll post if it goes back to doing what it was. Thanks!

Is it possible someone else in your house is watching your recorded programs?
