Recording a full show after watching part of it live

Attempting to switch from Spectrum with DVR to Directv Stream.

On Spectrum, if a show is on between 7:00 and 8:00 and I hit record at 7:20, it will record back to the beginning so that I get the entire show.

On Directv Stream's cloud dvr, it only records starting at 7:20.  For the channels that allow you to restart from the beginning, they too would only start the recording when you press the record button and not the full show.

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or would I need to stay with Spectrum if I wanted to watch the full show?

You are not doing anything wrong, I don’t think DIRECTV STREAM has that feature. Guess you’ll need to stay with Spectrum then...

However, technically, you are supposed to record a show BEFORE it starts airing, not during the airing. Simply set up a series recording if it is a series or press one button beforehand to be able to watch the whole show.

Hi @scobis, we'd be happy to have you as part of our DIRECTV family.

If you're looking to record while watching a program, you can follow these steps:

1. Press the overflow button (...) on your DIRECTV STREAM remote to record.
2. Select OK to record once or Record Series.
3. Once recording completes, the title is added to your DVR Playlist.

You can check how to manage your DVR recordings for DIRECTV STREAM.
Please let us know how it goes, we'll be attentive to your answer.

Nope Julian, that’s not what they are looking to do.
