Remote changes

When the guide changed formats, the remote stopped exiting out of a recording. If I am watching a recorded show, I can’t just exit out of it any more. I have to type in a channel number to exit the recording. How is this a good change?

Hello @Lw67219 let's check what's going on with your TV guide.


Have you tried to reset
your DIRECTV equipment to make sure everything is working fine? This process usually refreshes the system and the service.

Please let us know if the button works in other features like exit menu. If you happen to have another remote, please try with that one.

We'll be attentive to your answer.

Remote control model number?

DirecTV Stream or DirecTV Satellite service?

I reset the DirectTV stream receiver and the exit button worked 5-6 times to exit a recorded program. But now, it’s doing the same thing again. The only way to exit a recorded program is to type in a channel number.

The exit button works on other things, just not recording.

Thanks for the updates, @Lw67219.

Let's try resetting your DIRECTV STREAM remote control: 

- Press and hold the Home and Exit keys simultaneously, until the LEDs on both sides display red. 
- Press 981 on the remote control. 
- The LEDs will turn off and then blink blue 3 times on both sides. 

Tell us how everything goes after do it, we'll keep an eye on it.

@Lw67219 I appreciate the update, let's find the reason behind this.

Do you have more than one DIRECTV STREAM device? If you have two or more, it's possible that the remote is synchronized with another box. If this is the case, please reset all the boxes and remotes to make sure the equipment is properly paired.

Ok, the box in the bedroom is working fine. The remote works on it like it should. I tried it on the living room box and it didn’t work. It is paired to the bedroom TV. The living room remote is paired to the living room box I reset both the box and repaired the remote. I just reset the living box again and the remote is working as expected at this moment. I don’t think a long-term solution is to continually reset the box so the remote works a few times.
