Same story
Well, wish I would have known about this forum before going with ATT Direct Steam and purchasing a new Samsung 65" Q80 TV for my finished basement. I have a direct ethernet connection and still getting quite a bit of the black screen, spinning and picture returns after about 4-5 seconds. Very frustrating and ready to throw it all out. When it works it is a great picture, but would rather have old technology that works uninterrupted. Does anyone know if adding a box will alleviate the problem?

Absolutely. But there will always be some issues with anything. Always use an external device. The devices are more powerful and support more apps. They also get more frequent updates. At some point the TV makers just quit supporting in lieu of selling newer TV's.

You purchased a tv based on the use of an app? I have a Samsung tv and got over the app 6 months ago and purchased a Dtv stream box. I rarely use my tv for apps. External devices are better.

The problem is easily solved by using a Roku or Firestick instead of the Samsung DirecTV Stream App. You can buy one of those streaming devices for less than $30.

Your TV is fine,,,,It's the DirecTV App that (Edited per community guidelines).
When you read the responses in the forum you will see you have about three choices:
1. Live with the App's flaws until they correct the problems.
2. Buy a 3rd Party Device and suffer the indignity of purchasing a great TV you can't use to it full potential because of an App.
3. Contact Spectrum or Verizon and get one of their Streaming offers to replace DirecTV Stream.

No one has said the Samsung TV is at fault. We all know that the issue has always been the app. Live with it? No way. Get a true streaming device or seek another service are the best alternatives.
