Samsung TV DirectTV streaming app bugs
I have two Samsung TV's purchased about the same time from Costco. On seemingly random basis when shows are in the library, already recorded, when I select the show, the only option is to Delete the program. If I toggle back and forth backing out and then selecting the show again, eventually usually I will get an option to watch the show.

You’ll be better off with a streaming device like a Fire Stick, Roku, or Apple TV. You can even try the DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box which has a handy remote and an overall amazing experience.

If you research through past posts here, you will see many posts about the issues with the Samsung app. I for one replaced it with a Fire Stick on one TV and a Roku on the other, and the app operates much better, on the devices.

Unfortunately, there are multiple issues with the Directv Stream App used through Samsung TVs. There have been known issues for a long time and there have been no fixes as of yet to remedy those issues. Like the others have said your best bet to fix this would be to get an external streaming device. I would personally recommend the Directv Stream Box as it is more user-friendly giving you direct access to your recordings through the remote. You can also change the channel directly through numbered buttons on the remote and it even has voice control. No other external streaming devices are capable of doing this. You can purchase a refurbished box for $49.99 through Directv Stream and get a 1-year warranty. This price is comparable to the price you would spend for other external streaming devices such as Roku, Firestick, etc...

Of course none of that addresses the issue that if DTV offers a Samsung app, it should be expected to work. So they either need to deal with whatever issues exist in the app or stop offering it. An assortment of ACEs just saying "it's a crappy app, don't use it" doesn't go to this underlying issue - and given it makes DTV look bad, you'd think they'd want to resolve it one way or the other.

No one here knows where the issues with the app stem from. If it is a DirecTV or Samsung issue. is unknown to us.

Given that other streaming services on Samsung don’t appear to have the level of problems reported against the DTVS app, I will hazard a guess on that one. (This is beyond the fact that many of the reported problems don’t appear to be things that Samsung’s platform should have much influence on.) This is not to say that Samsung doesn’t have their own issues, the quick dropping of support for older models being a big one.

@lou_do That is so true wish we had the inside info on why the Samsung app has so many issues. @Jrandomuser We know that telling someone to get an external device to stream their service through is not a real fix. But it is the only solution that we have. Since we have no way of knowing what the issue is with the app or if the app will ever get fixed the only solution that we have is to tell them to use an external streaming device that for the most part will work and will get updates regularly. If you have any better ideas or a suggestion for the people who are using the Samsung app to stream that are having viewing problems with their Directv Streaming service please share we are all open to ideas.

I don't have a suggestion for those people - I have no way to fix the app (or even see what it looks like - my Samsung TV is a year too old to run the app), so what you suggest to them is as good as can currently be done. My suggestion is to DTV. Unfortunately, I don't have a good way to offer it. Back in the day, there were occasional interaction sessions ("Knowledge Shares") with insiders where questions and issues could be raised. I asked our noble ACE leader if one could be arranged for this service (I think it was probably still DirecTV Now at the time), and he indicated he would ask. But nothing ever happened. Perhaps I should see if I can ask on this side of the wall now that it's separated. There are a bunch of things that could be raised even if there is no direct response (likely), just to make sure that they are aware of how significant some of the issues appear to the customers.

The fix I have found is that you must “tap” the enter key on the remote. You are “holding” the enter key too long.
Also, for Samsung TVs, if you filter the guide by “recent“ the app will freeze, and the only fix is to sign out, then sign back into the app. So be careful when filtering the guide.
